I'll send an email to Bob as well. However maybe someone has an idea.
I'm going to try a new cable for the smarty today, a friend is local-ish and has it with him in his truck. I do kind have it twisted up a little. maybe a broke a wire in it?. possible.
I made 4 tune changes today, washed the truck. Went to put 1.6 on since I think I solved my rattle issues and I get ERROR 14 before even 1% shows on the programming.
When programming with the 1.6 software, it will think I have the key off when it is in fact on. Takes a little longer checking software and error before showing 1%.
With the recovery file it it realizes the key is on and it fails with error 14.
I hear a few extra dings when the key is turned on.
I'm in process letting it sit with the key on for an hour. I've tried a 10 minute version and the wait to start light came on and went off as it should when it's near 60 degrees out.
I've never needed to pull any fuses while programming, ever. Voltage on my stereo capacitor shorts 13.5-13.7. I'll try pulling fuses as well for giggles.
no abnormal flashing of anything on the dash other then the extra dings.
i'll clean out the ODBII port and use some dielectirc grease.
Other Ideas?
If my ECM is fried. Procedure to move what is most likely a vin locked smarty to the new ecm if a cummins npower has one for me tomorrow?
