i have been researching putting a nv4500 behind my dmax i can get a bellhousing for a BB chevy which has the same bolt pattern as my dmax and an adapter from advance adapters for 200 bucks to mate up the GM bellhousing to a dodge nv4500.

i was thinking of a zf6 but the nv4500's seem to be more plentiful and the zf6's are few and far between. also are the GM nv4500's weaker than the dodge hd nv4500's? i know where i can get a 5spd out of a 92 1 ton chevy.

I believe the Gm nv4500 have different gear ratios than the Dodge.

You have been hanging around wiltse to much. The 2.8 class will be not how far you pull but how many different trucks did it take to make one.:poke:

if they came from factory with a stick, id be driving one right now!

93 & 94 GM NV4500s had 6.34:1 1st, 3.44:1 2nd, 1.7:1 3rd
95 GMs changed to the 5.61:1 1st, 3.04:1 2nd & 1.67:1 3rd
96 & later GMs Went to the Dodge belhousing pattern & had the 95 ratios
Dodge is the same as 96 & later GMs except; the tail housings, output shaft , and the input shaft.

are you sure the 96-98 GM has the same bolt pattern as a Dodge nv4500? That doesn't seem right because GM pretty much sticks to their typical bolt pattern on their trans. for a loooong time and still has it on the Dmax as well. Just would be surprised as I'm almost positive the Dodge is a different pattern than a typical GM pattern.

Where the trans bolts to the bellhousing. Not bellhousing to engine.

the gm trannys have a larger output shaft as well as a larger input on the 241 t case.i think

96 and later GMs had the same bolt pattern as the dodges. some good reading on differences between the two is here

http://quad4x4.com/NV4500FAQ.htm#why

so from reading that i need to find an aftermarket bellhousing from a 96 or newer gm which would bolt up to my motor and i could slide the dodge nv4500 right behind it.

the other question i would have is a clutch. if i put the the 10 spline 1 3/8 input shaft in the dodge nv4500 i should have several options as long as the bellhousing i get is deep enough to accept a triple disc?
