Talk to me about clutches........

Go big with the clutch and later down the line convert to a 4x4.

Why would you pull a 2WD?

Because my whole life is about people telling me I can't do something and me proving them wrong.

Because it amuses me to see people go........... "wait, that's a 2wd? and all you've got on it is a dr. p module? and you're gonna hook?"

Because a 2wd truck is what I have and I'm gonna have fun with it.

why not? 4x4 is easy 2wd its a challenge. :shake:

I made it alot farther than alot of trucks there that were 4wd with alot more torque and hp.

Yeah, my pull wasn't great by any means. Yes, I abused the crap out of my clutch, mainly cuz of inexperience. BUT! I have a 2wd truck that weighs in at 6410 and has less than 300 hp. I hooked to the sled in a class of all 4wds and gave it all I had. You guys can hate on the 2wd part all you want, it will just give me more reason to prove that it can be done.

Just for the record. I didn't mean you don't belong at a truckpull with a 2WD when posting my dragstrip comment.

What did you mean then?

I'm not pickin on you specifically, but ever since I got my truck I've heard nothing but negative comments. I've been told that 2wd is worthless for pulling, I've been told that a standard is worthless for drag racing, I've been told that a vp44 is worthless in general, and EVERYONE hates on the camper shell.

My opinion? I drive a 2WD. So I can honestly say I'm partial.
All I was saying was the drag strip is a good time. You can go down the track more than once also. You can usually find a drag strip close to home that hits it every weekend. You can save allot of parts and have a really good time.
The Pulling competitions are great.
But this week you want to know what clutch to buy. It doesn't stop with the clutch. Thats the beginning.
Thats all. If you plan on pulling. Go sbc dbl, big input, and upgrade the hydraulics. You have to.

chalk it up for tunnel vission or opinion.

from what i under stand VP44 for all out raw power aint the best option. but that is not what you plan on doing with the truck.

not everyone is going to agree with what you like. and alot of people speak their mind on what they do and dont like. and most are blunt about it.

its fun being different aint it? mean look at the 2wd sled pulling thread i made a year ago.. they are treating you nicer IMO ;)

eff them run what makes you boat float :rules: :kick::Cheer:

Dont worry anna im in your boat 2wd and a standard. I still think you should give valair a chance!

LOL is that you Dan?

Snedge, I take my truck to the drag strip too. Kind of a p.i.t.a. to drag race it cuz the gears are so short that I can't get traction but I give it hell there too.

The reason for me starting this particular thread was to get the info I need to convince the man with the checkbook which kind of clutch I need. (Dan, don't take offense at this next part). Immediately after my pull, I was talking to Dan about his clutches. But if I go to my dad and say, the guy that owns Valair said this and that, he's going to assume that Dan is simply trying to sell his product. What I need is the reasons why I should go with a DD made out of a particular material and a bigger input shaft and upgraded hydraulics and all the rest of that good stuff. And I've got to be convincing because my dad is a miser.

yep, but until CompD gets my check i cannot sell on this site.

no offense taken, i see it the same way.

I'm also sold on Valair. And standards in general. If you want to pull, you do need a DD, I'd go with Dan's, awesome clutches, awesome guy. He was great to talk to when I was deciding on a clutch, much more so than another vendor I talked to who made me feel like I was wasting his time. I've not really heard anything bad about Valair except on one site, and I don't trust that crap.

And Juls better not be hating on the camper shell. He has an old man topper tooLOL

Julz is too smart to hate on anything that has to do with a woman including her truck.

You keep doing good Anna. My current truck and the last one were both 2wd standards, Open rearend and a ton of fun. Keep at it.

Dodges suck, VP44 suck, Autos suck, manuals suck, electronics suck, 4wd suck, 2wd suck, single cab suck, ext. cab suck, quad cabs suck, 4 doors sucks, mega cabs suck, dually suck, single wheels suck. Whats it matter as long as you enjoy what your driving. As far i myself i think that dodges suck for right now.
