Im taken the 35/40 wg14 off and replacing it with a SPS 62/71/14 and going back on the dyno. What HP do you think would be gained ? Seems like it will be able to breath much better with the 71mm turbine wheel over the stock Hx35 wheel. Makes right at 600 on #2 and around 650 with washer fluid inj. now. Just thought Id do some testing. Next will be testing an HT4C under the SPS charger, in place of the HT60......:charger:

I'm interested to see those results too. I have always wondered what switching out my HX40 to a bigger better secondary would get me HP wise.

I'm really curious to see your results. Be sure to post up your findings. I'll bet you gain 50+ hp when you add the HT4C in place of the HT60.

And just guessing, I think you will have a lower torque number when you change out the Hybrid for the SPS62 but probably no change in peak HP.

Ill be sure to post the results, Ill be using the same dyno so the numbers will not be scewed either. The last time I made a change it was the hx40 compressor wheel that was worth around 10hp wich I was impressised with.

You only gained 10hp by hybriding your HX35? Wow that almost doesn't seem worth the $$.

it will make more power!!! every time a see a big turbo at work, i have a flashing thought of how good that would under my ED 62..... can't wait to see it in action coop!

Its nice to have the facts on what works and what will not. There are many many other things people spend way more money on that end up being a placebo. Ive seen $1,000 injectors make 9hp more then stock 370s, big name cams that may cool egt's a tad make less then 10hp over stock, does this happen on every truck ? no but there are quite a few that will never know. Bottom line is lots of lofty claims but not much in the way of back to back testing. Ive done bench and dyno testing on delivery valves, but not many cared to chime in on those post's. Hope I can help

When are you going to do this? I would like to be there. I want to get mine on there here in the near future. Not to derail but any ideas on a 24v with 64/65 over a HT3b with 150 sticks and a TST will make. i know i will need more fuel but thats what ive got right now for towing.

My untested theory is that the "bottom/primary/atmosphere" turbo plays the largest factor in peak HP of a twin turbo setup. Although it makes sense that a larger top turbo should be freer flowing and thus less of a restriction, my theory is that the top turbo's restriction is minor compared to the rest of the intake tract, therefore minimal gains changing the top/secondary turbo and a lot of increased turbo lag!

My 95' junker is going to be my test pig. I'm going to try to run a 3rd gen turbo over an 83mm HT4B.

The 62 will take a little longer to spool than the 35/40, which will move your peak torque to higher in the powerband.

Well I asked/stated that because I cannot decide what I want to do with my tow rig. Hybrid 35/40 because I already have a HX40 comp housing & 14cm wg housing, or a HE351CW. I cannot seem to find a 351 for less than $300 and I'm looking at $80-100 for a HX40 compressor wheel and now sure on machine work and rebalancing to fit it. So I might be better off with the 351.

Bascially a lot of :bang:bang:bang

Well its on and I like it...... :D

Find out more on Sat. when it gets straped down.

Nice Coop...i need to get my truck up there to do some playing on the dyno. I gotta talk to Lloyd and find out when would be a good time.

why didnt you tell me you startd this thread????

i just happen to run across it today...jerk!!!

If i'm in town I guess i need to make a trip up there on Saturday!

im thinkin the same thing scott....maybe there will enough time for mine....

i am betting that with a new larger more efficient turbo boost will drop for same horsepower level.. i bet pressure ratio is higher on the new one too, ao it qont be working near as hard...
cant wait to see definitely a good comparison!!

I have not really busted into it yet, It was 15deg with 30mph winds when I did the install outside, so I was numb and the truck was cold even plugged in. So I went up the road just building temp. When I did get into it the first time it seemed to spool faster and then boom, squeezed a corner of a boot out from under the clamp at 60 psi @ 2,000rpm. So I pulled over and fixed that and headed home. Only thing I gotta do befor I dyno is build a waste gate device and Ill be good.
