The good the bad and the ugly...

Far as I know you could probably get away without a egr delete. Just a dpf/doc delete, intake and tuner.

I would doubt I would ever go over 100hp added via a tune/programmer, I've learned my lesson with being hard on stuff lol. I drive pretty laid back and I am religous about being easy on it until all the temps are up to normal operating range.

100hp will not do anything to that motor or tranny. Wont help the mileage much either.

Run the SCT with Erics tunes on it. Amazing. I run it on the street setting (approx 130 HP gain) for winter, very smooth, good for slippery roads, about a 7 to 8 MPG increase. In the summer I up it to the extreme street, about 150 hp increase. Truck really gets out and boogies on that setting. Very responsive off the bottom on that tune!

7 to 8 mpg???? Never heard any tune giving that much of a gain on any truck. Not saying it did not happen I am just wondering what kind of pixie dust Erics sprinkles in his tunes.

I am amazed at how well it works. If I was to go by the dash computer it is even more than that,, LOL,, but real world hand calculated 7 to 8 MPG (Imperial Gallon though)

imperial*bdh*

so in englishLOL what were u seeing then vs now?

So a 100hp tune does nothing for these trucks? I'm looking at buying one this week but really dont want to put a programmer or dpf delete as I don't want to void the warranty but seems thats the way everyone is going?

When I said it does nothing I was refering to a 100hp tune not hurting the motor or tranny.

To be honest I am not 100% sure on the conversion. I do know that there are 4.54 litres in a Imperial gallon, and just under 4 in a us gallon. Only the US uses the US gallon, the rest of the world either uses the metric system or imperial.

kman, these trucks run real nice even stock, it is just amazing how much better they run with minor upgrades. Dont be scared of a 6.4 it is a very good engine

Just after the 6.0's and having my warranty voided in my Dodge because they "thought" it had a chip on it I'm affraid to chip a brand new truck again. But 8mpg isn't gonna cut it either when its gonna see alot of hwy miles.

Get dpf/doc delete, and SCT livewire with custom tunes. Then for dealer visits Put in dpf and reload stock tune. Dealer can't tell it's been tuned far as I've read and know. just rock the extreme street for a DD. Should dyno 475-500 and be pretty safe on everything. These 6.4s are beasts.

If you want to be able to bring it back to the dealer, dont do the dpf delete, do a whole new exhaust. One thing a dealer will look for is soot in the pipe. So if you do a dpf delete you will leave soot in the exhaust pipe ,, busted. Do a whole new exhaust and keep the old one around, (in case of emergency) most dealers will do warranty on other parts and never say anything about it unless it is about the engine or driveline, that is when you would need it back to stock
