the great hitch debate

Last I checked, NTPA doesn't let street junk on the track.

I would be ok with that- as long as we run NTPA safety in all the classes too.:hehe::hehe::hehe:

Guys- just move the hitch in, brace it a couple places and call it good. If you want to put a Super Stock hitch on a Street truck, maybe you should build a Super Stock!!!

My opinion which dosent count for much, I learned this at the pull at Covington Tn is everyone should be able to fabricate a safe hitch, install it in the truck and dont reinforce in front of the centerline of the rear axle. This would be a whole lot simpler than arguing about factory reese hitches. Besides everyone likes to think they know a trick or two. The days of pulling a factory truck with a chip in it at anything but the smallest county fair pull and being competitive are over. If you dont believe me enter a large pull somewhere and see where you end up. As long as the hitch is stationary and the heigth cant change and dosent tie back to the front of the truck or brace to the rearend for transfer it should be legal.Set a hitch height rule and a percentage from center of rear axle to center of hookpoint and let the games begin.:rules:

Agreed. It seems we are getting closer and closer to restrictor plate racing to me. For long everyone gonna be exactly the same and it will rely totally on the driver, just like restrictor plate racing. IMO

i know this is a hitch thread but i have a question...Did someone change the rules back to a 2.5 inducer street class or is it still 2.6?

46' has been introuduced in the KOTTPA this year for both classes

DHRA was 2.6 but most around here (ky) are 2.5 WO and KOTTPA

Ok thanks for clearing that up...I didnt know if DHRA switched the rules again.

Heck I may sence its going to rain here and there are 3 pulls next weekend around close,, give me directions !!!

+1. I have been waiting for the past month to get my first hook in. If Hodgensville is cancelled this weekend, I'm gonna try to make it some where else. Where is Smithland exactly? What classes?

One other thing. Would you consider this illegal for the Wide Open events (TS, Stanford Ky, ect...) Its a stock Reece style hitch that came on the truck with a little added bracing.

I think they might consider that a weight tranfering hitch since is gonna maybe possibly transfer some of the load further up the frame than where the hitch is actually mounted. I have to completely change recievers and hitches just to run at TS, they are kinda strict with the hitch rules this year. I have been contacting Wideopen officals about the rules through emails and they ain't gonna let much slide if any at all.

I asked Stewart Esters (1BADASSRAM) over on KYDTR.com and he says that hitch is fine.
