Think I Blew Head Gasket. The plan is to......

maybe someone that has only done them hot could scribe a line on a nut, back it off, and try running it down stone cold?

kinda curious to find out where it would end up

thanks don

ps - not trying to start an arguement. yes, i am old school. but i still try to keep an open mind and learn new things. i also wonder who originally suggested this idea? was it a stud manuf??? is the gasket 'softer' at temp? dont see how that hard ass stud could grow more than a cast iron head...

If you haven't done it already, empty out a little bit of oil from your pan. If there is a leak some antifreeze would have gotten in the oil. It could have slipped past the rings and down into the pan...check to see if antifreeze comes out first, if none comes out and no oil in the top of your radiator I'd say tq down a bit more and you should be good.

Been driving it and haven't noticed any more bubbles in the reservoir. Weston suggested possible cavetation from rpms as a possibility. I think i'm going to just leave it as that and if I have a problem I'll look into a new rad cap. I don't think it's bad as I pulled it off and it seems to be ok to me but i'm not expert. As of right now i'm just glad to be driving the truck without worrying and I owe comp d a write up on that quick spool flange which has made the truck 10 times more fun to drive so look out for that in possibly as soon as a few hours, hopefully tomorrow at the latest!
