Truckers, lets see your rigs!

Turbo is already on, off a sig 600. Is the PDI cam their own or a cummins cam with the part numbers ground off?
Thanks

The 870 doesn't rely on the turbo for braking like the 871 and newer. If the Jake is weak on the ISX replace the solenoids.

But to answer your question PDI makes the replacement cam.

The 171702 Borg is a WAY better replacement turbo than the 60 for an ISX.

I think that 171702 works better just because it isn't that stupid monarch flange of the direct bolt on 60s and small turbine they have, I'd say a large turbine 60 with a standard T6 flange would be much different.

Custom. I've never used one because no one wants to pay for them but I've heard the overhead has to be set good or the lobes will hit the rockers

Manifold and turbo change could be in the future I guess. Engine performance is fine, jake performance sux though. What about a cm570 cam? Engine has 800k+mi on it. Gonna start collecting parts for it

There any way to get a build sheet of a vin # for truck?

You decide to go to a bigger truck, or still looking/researching?

The 570 was a rod slinging turd. Have you replaced the solenoids?

No chit, you start buying interior parts and your checkbook will bleed. I have to figure my time is worth something so if I have to work on it for a month to get it road worthy and add that hourly rate in there isn't any savings on buying junk.

While I generally agree.. I don't have 25-30k cash on hand
And due to financial history... financing is out of the question right now and for at least next year or so..
And a nice truck toter home is of similar year is 30-50% more than what I'd have into rebuild/returning a truck

Yea. I was thinkin the sig 600 cam cause they never had vgt, and seem to have a very good jake, at least from my experience. Don't think the cams had anything to do with the rods exiting the block.lol.

how much does being broke down cost?

The whole truck, mechanically, would be redone before I put it into service. With hopes of it not breaking due to being worn out

And a big truck is going to cost more than a little truck when broke

Only to a point. You will still be paying the same shop rate as the big trucks and parts are less likely to be on the shelf or readily available for a 20 year old 8.3 than they are for a big truck engine. Not to mention technicians worth a crap at diagnosing an older mechanical engine are practically non existent. That is the case local to me at least. You are dead set on a little truck and I see why but I wouldn't let initial cost or repair cost dictate that at all given there really isn't much if any advantage to it in that department.

If the dam government/teamsters/ATA stopped trying to micromanage and kill small trucking companies. I wouldn't be forced to in to the position I currently am with the ELD mandate, which is still under litigation.

AFAIK no one has retro power a truck with a newer engine.. Ie putting a ISL/ISX(12) or S60 in an older platform

Ummm... What kind of truck are we talking here?

May guys have put modern electronic engines in older class 8 trucks.
