trucks going under the knife

I would have reverse cantilevered it but the braking dynamics are dangerous that way. Max lift travel from that though.

take some pics of the front suspension. I would like to see what it's got. There are more than a couple of (ex) mini truckers lurking on here...

this is the best one i got, hope you can figure something out

Looks like you could find some stock arms and re-work them for a better balljoint angle. Depends on how ambitious you are. If you could find some cost affective chevy arms to section out, that might not be a bad idea either. I'll dig some and see what
I can find.

Have you looked at how low you can functionally go before your trans crossmember and fuel tank are points of contact?

i know the fuel tank is sitting about 1" below the frame rail, if i could just drop the front end about 2-3 inches i would be happy with that but i cant find another more than just shorter coil springs. nobody makes drop spindles for these things

looking at some of the pictures, i wondering if i can re-do the cup out of the bottom of the arm so it lowers the spring down further, i think running chevy parts will be more cost effective

I know we used to filp the ball joints on toyota trucks back in the day.
I think for what you are looking for you will be ok, I would just build your own cups for the front and run with it. Spindles would help but your not trying to lay it out.

got my old fuel lines off and ran a new 1/2 return line tied into my airdog, aong with painting the frame and rerouting my air lines

I've seen guys even take the cheap way out and section stock upper and lower arms 2" basically same principle as drop spindles. just raising upper and lower ball joints 2" just a thought.

i try. i'm about done burning down the money trees tho, i want this damn thing to be done.

Thats actually the best way to do it, dunno what kinda truck that is on but its deff a dually! Ive seen several builds where guys modify the stock arms to fit bags and plate the top so you dont have to use "cups" like most guys do. Normally to bolt a bag in the stock spring pocket you would have to basically use bolt in cups that take up the extra height for the coil spring. The front is simple but you can only go so far down with the suspension before you bind up balljoints. Thats where drop spindles always come in.... but these trucks are starved to aftermarket suspension parts!!

bag the front! best way to do it while keeping a decent ride height.

Garrett

i hope so, im going to order the metal today and tear into it next month. i just want to fill that 2" gap. plus im going with a 265-35-22 tire so its going to get even bigger

got the c-notch in. home depot didnt have my size cutting wheel so i had to torch it. i did learn one lesson, when lowering a dropped frame down for the first time make sure all jack stands and wood blocks are clear. i didnt realize this and pushed in my driver side cab corner:nail:

got my frontend problems solved. ordered new lower control arms with flipped chevy ball joints. this method moves my spindle on top of the lower control arm
