Guys, most sled pulling rules have a "stock appreaing turbo" rule for the work stock or street stock classes. What does this mean? Is it stock appearing when you look under the hood or stock appearing when it is sitting on the workbench?

It means, it is the OEM brand and model number turbo. Pretty much anything else goes. Like you can run an hx35 and make a hybrid hx40 out of it, etc...

So what your saying is the work stock trucks could have a larger turbo inducer than the 2.6 or even the 2.8 class? I'm not all that familair with reworking turbos, but seems like there is some meat on the inducer that could be machined out. And then a new compressor wheel could be added.

The 2.6 & 2.8 class at least have an inducer rule and it is checked. But the work stock just says stock appreaing turbo....

Interesting.....

I think if you machined the cover to fit such a large wheel it would change the AR of the cover too much to where it would get to a certain point and then not flow any more. Plus with a giant compressor side you would need a evenly matched turbine side or you would have problems.

it means a guy with a duramax can run a cheetah 76mm and get away with it while im stuck using a hx35 thats some really close competition huh

i think they should check the inducer also i mean come on 650hp to a 450hp truck i will have to have one hell of a setup to beat that

Hey, I'm with you. I run a duramax with EFILIVE. That's it. I try to keep the tunes below 500hp. I don't want to do an engine rebuild at this point. If it happes, then it happens. We want the street stock class to be a "low" hp class to keep from having to add drive shaft loops, u-joint shields etc... This also allows the local guys who want to pull a chance to drive off the street and pull. I think our rules should have said "stock turbo" period. But they are locked in now for 1 year. So I guess we will have to deal with it next year.

well alot of us tried to get them changed this year to oem turbo and no efilive but thats what happens when the durmax guys run the show but a stock oem turbo makes for a very close playing field but stock appearing leaves it wide open and then next class up is 2.8 and 3.0 doesnt make sense to me im about to just buy a s465 and take on the duramaxs in 2.8/3.0

I'm not that familiar with Dodge or Ford. What kind of hp can you get out of stock turbo, injectors and fuel pump, but with a programmer? I believe on a Duramax it's about 550 or so at the crank. That's really pushing the engine though and that's with a lift pump and some valving to allow the rail pressure to stay high.

How exactly were you planning on banning efi? Were you just going to ask guys what programming they were using and see what they said?

If you ban efi live then Dodges and Fords shouldn’t be able to run programmers.……I disagree on that rule.

i dont run a programmer in stock class

What do you run in the stock class? Do you have the option for an electronic controller or do you have to mod the injector pump? Not being a smart a$$, just figure there is always a way to mod trucks whether they are controlled elctronically or manually.

I see you are from Leon Iowa. The MPA is doing a pullin Leon on July 18th. Hope to see you there. I had a good time down there last year.

what truck do you have i actually will be pulling mpa this year i was goin to pull this truck in leon last year but had just bought this truck and was getting all the bugs worked out so i didnt pull i had dual chrome stacks on it then
do you know anythin about the test and tune in new virgina on may 30 and how long during the day they will go i work that day but am gonna try and get off early so i can make a few hooks i have a broke pressure plate on my sbc dd but will be putting a new one in sunday so it should be ready to pull

Most workstock classes are stock appearing which if you run a different turbo other than factory it has to be a 2.5 inducer or smaller. My S300 is a 2.5 inducer and im planning on running some of the workstock classes this year.

truck is a vp truck with 100s and stock hx35 last fall truck did 430hp i will have it on the dyno again june 6th we are havin a dyno day at lund motorsports in waukee, ia 8am all day i think its $100 for 3 runs and you run your own truck its a superflow load cell

I believe the New Virginia Test and tune will work like the Maxwell one. The sled willl get there about noon or so. It starts at about 8, but thats so that the gas trucks can get pumped, inspected and test vaccum , then seal the motors. We can also inspect the diesl trucks in the pro street and pro modified diesl for safety and turbo inducer size.

I've got a white '05 duramax 4 door. I pulled last year in Leon.

If your that worried about using a better turbo for workstock, why dont you just buy a 2.6 and run that class. You will probably have more invested in trying to mod your stock turbo than to just buy a 2.6 and bump up? Workstock is made for lightly modified daily driven trucks. If your trying to be so competitive bump to the 2.6. Why spend all that money to run in the workstock class?

thanks for the info i cant remember your truck but thats prolly cause we had two truck pulls about a month apart and had different trucks there both times i can just remeber a black duramax one from missouri and at the other one in leon there was another black duramax i think both ran very well and the only other big power truck i know was there was st joeseph diesels 12v dually

all ive bought for this truck was a ad150 100s valve sprins exhaust and clutch its either run stock or run 2.8 in the mpa so its alot of money when you go do turbo programmer stud and injectors $3500 and work is rather slow but starting to pick up

Ah I see. Pretty big jump from workstock to 2.8. They dont have anything in between?
