Im in a big hurry to get a turbo order for my truck(blew the stock ones centersection in half:bang) but im unsure as to wat to get i dont really have a lot of experience in turbo sizes etc. Im runin everything in my sig other than i tightened the stock gov. springs 3 clicks so it defuels a 2800=2900 roughly. its a dd street truck. i never tow wit it. i want to get a super phat shaft 66mm from II but i dont know if i can spool it or not. i have the option of a 12 or 14cm wastegate housing. if it would spool at 2k or lower i would be happy and i could just get a quick spool plate and be ok. or should i just stick wit the super phat shaft 64mm wit a 14cm wastegated housing. any input is gladly aprieciated.

It just depends on what you can put up with.
I have ran a 62/65/14, quick spool but NO topend pull, ran out of charger FAST
64/71/14, spooled around 1700rpm was laggy but had a nice topend.
64/74/14 spooled around 1900rpm SUPER laggy but ran like a raped ape.
E.D. 62/68/14 with "super62" wheel, race cover and 68mm turbine wheel. Spools like a 62 but pulls the same (if not better) than the 64/71/14. PLUS i can tow my 12k camper without any problems.

NOW, I have a HEAVILY ported and polished head, so my chargers would spool about 150-200rpm sooner than the stocker.

I went with the 62/68/14 because Weston (smokem) recommends them more than the 71mm wheel. He says the 71mm wheels belong on a tractor.

If you do any kind of drag racing you will HATE a slow spooling charger because it take FOREVER to get boost back between shifts. I ran all of these chargers when I still had my NV4500, I have since went to a Full Billet Goerend.

ive ran a 70.3/80 as a single it was laggy but a blast when it came up it was pretty streetable but it depends on your preference i had about the same mods but bigger injectors without the head

Im running an A5000 now with no problem. Have another one on the work bench tho.

ED 468 with a .90 a/r turbine housing and 83/74 turbine wheel. It is a bit lazy but shifting the gears manually will light her right up for street fun!

The charger worked much better on the street with the quick spool flange I had. As of right now the only people pushing these in limited volume is sound performance. I may end up doing some r & d for them. I previously ran one from Performance Metal Works but they've split up for the time being; however, are considering manufacturing more of these.

If you haven't done a trans and you plan to drag race you better get yourself one loose converter!

If you only have 3000 rpm, I would stay with a s300 based charger, probably a 62 or 64mm.

Hes running a 5sp. Nick.

You know, if I didnt tow so much, I would work a deal with you on that S468. That bastard sounds fun on the street!

he's not even turning 3000rpm... I wouldn't run any of the chargers mentioned w/ that powerband...

I'd run an HE351... 62/65/14 at the biggest

(moral of the story is put a 4k kit in it)

A Silver Bullet is a non issue on my truck but looking at your signature I can't see this working, it does not take huge low end fuel to spool a turbo!

Yeah, by the time a 66 or bigger turbo is lit and pulling hard, you'll be defueling. It would be a very limited "powerband". Unless you change to 4k gov springs, but then you need valve springs, blah blah blah etc.

I would think about giving this one a shot.

good call... with his awesome pump tuning skills, the thing would finally light about 2600rpm and shut down around 2700 when he starts to defuel against his governor

Once she's lit she's nasty! To keep or not to keep that is the question lol. I'd certainly rather spend my money on a pump and cosmetic things for the truck just if I could get a bit better drivabilty. Tune back in in 30 seconds where i'm sure i've changed my mind again:bang

Any how I like the 62/68 for you or maybe a 64/68. When you're ready pick up the phone and make some calls there's alot of good information that is not on the net to be had via a phone call!

well i plan on installing 4k gsk before to long i believe that i already got the valve springs. its just that they say that the 64/71/14 is good for towing. and i fiqure the 66/71/14 or 12 would be a decent spool up. at wide open throttle wit the whc1 hitting 50psi it leaves a heck of a trail of smoke as long as i hold in to it. i just want something that will burn all the fuel i have and still spool around 1700=2000 rpm

we put a s300g on my buddys truck(95 4x4 5spd) and it spools at 1500rpm and hes just has full cuts and thats it. i really doesnt clear hes smoke up all that well. i thank i need something bigger than 62/65/14

An s300g only has a 56 or 57mm comp wheel.

x2 ^^^ and +1 on an HE351

Full cuts are pretty dirty... I think you would be fine with an HE351, but if you are stuck on an aftermarket you would do just fine with a 62mm turbo. It will light quicker than something bigger and will move more than enough air for you. As mentioned before, the s300g is only 57mm :Cheer:

well since im not getting anywhere wit this thread. i figure i could spool the 64/71/14 really well as tony597fitter said (1700rpm). some ima go one step bigger and order a 66/71/14. gives me some room to grow
