What oil are you running?

I know this topic can sometimes start fights but I'm just curious what guys with
hot diesels are running for engine oil. In my pulling garden tractor (3 cyl turbo'ed Kubota), I'm thinking about going with a 10w30 or 10w40 synthetic that is diesel rated. OE recommendation is 10w30 or 15w40.

I've ran Valvoline 15-40, Rotella 15-40, Rotella synthetic 5-40, Schaeffer's 9000 synthetic 5-40, and now Amsoil 15w-40 Marine Diesel.

I run the Amsoil Marine because it's still the older CI4+ and has a TBN of 12. Full synthetic 15w-40. I also add 2 bottles of ZDDP+.

Whats schaffers TBN?

rotella 15-40 for me, my oil tests have always come back good, so that makes me happy

I'm using Rotella synthetic 5w-40 with a bottle of Lucas break-in oil additive. The addititive is just for the added zinc though. They claim 5000ppm in 4.5qts, if true that should add 2200ish ppm in my 10 qt oil changes.

Walmart's Supertech 15-40 for both of my trucks, I can't complain at $8.50 per gallon.

At that price, I can afford to add a bottle of STP oil treatment and get a little extra ZDDP to help with valvetrain wear.

rotella 15w-40 and ill be switch to synthetic after the swap and no more leaking.

Garrett

Synergyn Racing Oil - only product that comes close is Amsoil 15-40W Marine.

Rotella 15-40, add a bottle of lucas zinc additive, and a half bottle of oil stabilizer. Since we change it every 4-5 pulls, It's cheap to do it this way, and the engine looks fine after break down. 10w-30 Mobil1 synthetic in the pump. We change this every 4-5 pulls too.

Caterpillar DEO 15w40...Only oil I know of that is still CI-4 plus

On my last oil change, the local auto parts store have Valvoline premium blue 15-40 for 7.99/gal. I also had a gallon of Mobile Del-Vac 15-40 sitting on the shelf, and a gallon of Walmart Super Tech 15-40.

So for this oil change, I'm running a "performance blend". I like to call it "VAL-MO-TECH".
