What to build? 2.8 or Super Street?

Yes they are easy to get and cheap, i run 6.17 in the front and 6.20 in the rear. You dont have to but run real low gears but it is easier on the gears in the dropbox because the closer you get to running 1 to 1 the closer the quick change gears are in size to each other

Cool! They have some good stuff on that site. Thanks for your help. I'm learning a lot. Time to spend some money I guess. Know anybody looking for some stock driveline parts?:Cheer:

There is a drop box for sale on truckpulls.com for somewhere around 1800 I believe, check it out.

Sure did. Its on here as well. Its a turn key super street truck. Very good price. You should buy it.

I'm starting to find out that it's probably a LOT cheaper to buy yours than to build one...But then what would I do w/ mine? If I had 38K setting around I'd be all over it! I guess I could put mine back together and sell it. What front axle are you using? I assume the rear suspension is solid...

I am in the process of building a ss truck and I know it would be a lot cheeper to buy Anthony truck,if i could just unload my truck:what:

What are you building? What truck are you trying to unload?

I sure wish I had a big pile of money just laying around so I could buy his. I would like to build my own but if the money was there right now, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. It seems like it would make more sense.

60 in the front with 6.17 gears. F106 in the rear with 6.20's. Rear is solid yes. Buying this truck would definately be MUCH cheaper and you won't have any labor time involved either. Fresh roller motor....

upgrading the truck in my avatar ,and going to end up costing more then 38k till iam done:bang

I found a 106 for $300 bucks. It's out of an 86 F600. Seems like a good deal to me. Is there anything I should look for when buying one? He said it had Dayton style wheels on it. I figured it didn't matter if I'm changing the hubs anyway.

I would buy it But check the ratio first, even if it wrong thats still a good deal.

If its in a 86 its a later model 106 which is good. the webbing around the inner bearing on the pinion is heavier. Which is alot stronger then the older ones(ask me how i know) ive been through 2 of the old style till i stumbled across a new model. Also look for a load bolt it will be a bolt that is in the side of the hog head that runs against the ring gear and can be adjusted from out side of the rear( it goes the oppisite direction of all the other bolts in the rear). If it doesnt have one your gona want to get that installed, it stops the ring gear from flexing away from the pinion and also a ring gear support which stops the pinion from shooting out the front of the housing, they dont come with those it will need to be bought. Anthony's truck is a steal i could have a really nice house for what i have invested in mine.

He said he thought the gear ratio was 6-something but he wasnt sure. I figure I'll buy it and at least have something to work with.

I really wish I had the 38k to be able to buy Anthony's. The truck I've got has 360,000 miles and really didn't cost me anything...yet. In some way I think I just want to build one myself to prove I can do it and to help promote my shop. I've built some fast trucks but never built a designated pulling truck. I know I've got a lot to learn and I appreciate everyone's help.:thankyou2:

I built mine twice. Once as a 2.8( started life as a burnt 01 dually that was trashed) then as a SS and it would have been much easier to have done it once but i learned a tremendous amount of knowledge from the original build and what i wanted to change to make the truck work better
Check out my Myspace page there a bunch of pics of my build on there

I looked through the pictures on you myspace page. That answered a few questions. Is it required to cut the floor pan out? What happened to the hitch? What did you do different to fix it?

You dont have to cut the floor out i just wanted my dropbox as straight upand down as possible but most guys lay theirs on its side more to keep it under the floor. The hitch happened when the dropbox broke and i was hit by the sled and put the rear tires up on the buck board, so to fix it i put a billet dropbox in it:bang

allow me about 15k for my scooter and ill be interested,I would need that new turbo too:woohoo:
