What to build? 2.8 or Super Street?

Have you guys had any problems with the dana 60 ring and pinion? mines chipped in the center of every tooth on the pinion. im thinkin it was just set up wrong, or its had a hard life in the gasser class before me lol. Thinking about going with motive gear to replace? not sure tho??

Also look for a load bolt it will be a bolt that is in the side of the hog head that runs against the ring gear and can be adjusted from out side of the rear( it goes the oppisite direction of all the other bolts in the rear). If it doesnt have one your gona want to get that installed, it stops the ring gear from flexing away from the pinion and also a ring gear support which stops the pinion from shooting out the front of the housing, they dont come with those it will need to be bought. You don't by any chance have any pictures or anything explaining this a little better do ya? My brother has a 106 that I was looking at after reading your post and I still can't quite figure out what the heck your talking about:bang

Yes i replace mine every year it tends to fracture every tooth on the ring gear. mine is set up right but i have come to the theory, that its from dragging the rearend around with the slower gears in the rear and the faster up front.

Yea i can get some picks up this evening i still have 1 of the broke hogs heads laying in the shop that has the load bolt in it and it also is a older unit so it has the less dessirable pinion bearing support and thats were that one happened to break.

I just found out that the rules for the NSPA super street class may be changing for next year. They may not be allowing an open drivetrain for this class. Not sure though, as the official rules have not been released yet. I guess it's jut a rumor right now. I'm glad I havent ordered any parts yet...

Here are the pics of the slug for the load bolt but the bolts is in the rear in my truck

what to build

You may not want the dayton style wheels they are the big wheels with out a center in them, you would spend money to change the hubs back to a 6 lug.

I went and picked up my 106 yesterday. I need to find some 6 lug hubs and get rid of the dayton hubs. I picked up a set of Isuzu wheels. This guy had stuff laying all over the place. He had a couple Isuzu trucks that had god rearends. Are they any good for anything? They kinda look like a 106 but a bit smaller.

Yea that bolt was added to that rear, any machine shop should be able to do it

Ok sounds good. Do you have any recommendations on what I should do for hubs and axles? I was kinda hoping I might be able to find some stock hubs that'll work and run the Isuzu rims I bought.
