Which is the better buy 5.9 or 6.7?

7.3L POWERSTROKE!! Fak that 6.0 junk and the Dangerous Object Dragging Garbage Everywhere. Been there done that and after $40 000 in warranty work I decided to go back to a Ford where I never should have left!

04.5-early 07 5.9 if you want 500 HP for 650 bucks in aftermarket upgrades.

03-early 04 5.9 if want 450 HP for 650 bucks in aftermarket upgrades.

Any 03-07 5.9 if you want 600+ HP as either is similar in cost to build that kind of power.

OilField Digger is right, stick with the 7.3 if you want to spend big $$$ to make 450-550HP.

5.9, but if your welling to dump the emissions Id run the 6.7, I have a feeling in a couple of years it will be king

Problem with the new 6.7, if you dump anything, you are your own warranty. They still have way too many issues to resolve yet to be driving around without a 100K mile warranty for me. $.02

I'm with Jory. In a few years a used, out of warranty 6.7 will prob be the one to have.

Right now I'll stick with a 5.9, as long as it doesn't have a VP...

Have you had any problems with a VP truck?

I currently own two vp trucks, a 99 2500 auto with 237k and a 02 3500 auto with 117k and I haven't had any vp problems.

I've spent more money on suspension and transmission work than any engine related problem on my trucks. IMO if anyone would consider buying a 2nd gen 94-02 there's other things to consider other than the VP.

Replaced the lift pump on my 99 twice in the year I owned it. VP was starting to go out when it got stolen...

Plus I like my 12v better.

I agree there are other things to consider, but they exist on the 12v and 24v, the VP is only a 24v issue, and not a cheap one.

I heard the 05 had plastic intercooler tubes?

Yep. I just replaced mine with a metal one made by BD, as well as some better boots. Cost around 100 bucks, and are easy to install. Oh yeah, get the 5.9 :Cheer:
