Just wonderin who is pulling in 5th gear low range in an 04 dodge 6 speed manual. Tire size 305. Estimating 750 - 800 hp. How does it work?

I've done it in my 05 manual with 33 12.50 sts. My horspower isn't where yours is either I am probably closer to 650?? You just have to look at the track, the sled, and how the other trucks are hooking before you go for a big gear like that.

5th gear(Hero gear) can be pulled off but it'll kill the clutch in short time and the track has to be very loose

x2^. I've pulled 5th numerous times, but it depends on tires size, tread, track condition and the kinda sled.

It's probably not good on a clutch but I got the sled moving pretty quick, I think my clutch will hold up to quite a few 5th gear launches but I just don't got the power to keep the RPM's up. When I pulled it I didn't even bog down at the long end of the track I just spun out. Also really depends on what kind of turbo you have too.You have a custom S400 like my brother I wouldn't try it.

I think alot of what gear to pull in has mainly to do with what gearing do you have.
3.54s 4low 4th
4.10s 4low 5th

I pull 5th an got 8 hooks on 2 double disc and needs rebuildin again same if not more power than u are makin

I always pull 5th no matter what the track looks like and have had the same clutch for 3 years now. Its about having the power and setup to be able to spin the tires easily coming out of the hole.

kinda sounds like you need to try a few things different?? Drop a gear or get out of the clutch earlier, or drop some weight off the front. I pulled 5th low once bt would not use it all the time. I pulled 2nd hi and 4th low all last year and got a little over 40 hooks on one clutch but I run a Haisley.

That's a tripple to, not a dual. This is my second 3850 and it is now shot after about 6 or 7 pulls. I'm going to a tripple because I don't think a dual will ever hold up running in 5th.

I run 5th gear everytime now and dont hang weight so i can get the wheel speed. All depends on your setup.

I run 5th because there isnt any way to get more RPM for the 6.7 yet so in 4th i bounce off of the rev limiter.

Haisley street puller, got over 40 out of my last one and took it out with still a few pulls left in it and got a new on with about 5 pulls on it 3 4th low 1 5th low and 1 2hi. I actually didn't look at wheel speed as the track was real loose so I know the tires were spinning faster than I was moving. I think if I would of picked a lower gear I would of bit the track harder and actually did better.

what kinda clutch do u perfer and hows it on the street

I prefer this clucth over any south bend. Daily drive it on the street alot and still don't have upgraded hydrualics and have had this clutch in for over 40,000 miles. Has the same plate load as a stock clutch pretty much so pedal pressure is much like stock and these things hold for a long time and if they do start slipping take it out adjust it and put it back in and go hook some more.
