Picked up an Arctic Cat 700 Diesel

Sand drags...lol. I thought you meant a bike that has to run longer than seconds.

Still complaining about fuel?

I'm confused as to just what the Hell your point is?

To the OP, sorry for chitting up your thread, I'm liking the turbodiesel fourwheeler idea :D

You have me thinking, and that is something I can't afford right now!!!! LOL

Looks great, keep the updates coming please sir!

Matt,

Now you just need to put a stack on it!!!!!! Tractor Style!!!!!!! LOL
Ummmmmm.....we'll see on that one, it would kind of defeat the whole sleeper part haha.

The whistle tip mod is now half way complete :woohoo:

Here's how the oil lines are hooked up;
Drilled the lower part of the pan very carefully and used a shopvac with a straw duct taped in the end to vacuum out all shavings. Packed the drill bit and tap with grease also.

Took out the oil pressure idiot light switch and used a m12-1/4 JIC fitting to screw in.

Waiting on a couple more bends, a bellows section for the exhaust, and some silicone couplers to totally finish it up. Should all be here Wednesday or Thursday . Sled pulls on october 11th are sneaking up wayyy to quick......

I fired it up and I was surprised to hear that it's much quieter out the exhaust than before. With the spark arrestor removed it had a little bark, but it's gone now. The bigger problem is that the turbo whistle is gone too ! That's going to have to change!

Despite what it sounds like in the vids, it's wayyyy quieter with the turbo on than it was before. I need to cut open the muffler and remove some baffles haha. The diesel knocking sounds really sharp in the vid because I've bumped the timing to about 20* since I've maxed out the torque limiter. In person it's not that much louder than stock, just the way the mic picked it up.

Initial impressions; HOLY CRAP! I only rode it around the yard at 10psi and it's a whole new machine. I found out the wastegate is opening itself at 10psi so I need to go get some springs at the hardware store tomorrow to help hold it shut until I want. I zip tied the linkage closed and saw 15psi on a quick tire spin in the shop so it'll be an easy fix. The sled pull tomorrow night should be very interesting!

Nice Matt!!!!! Now you off to spray it to get rid of that turbo lag!!!!!! Because that turbo is HUGE!!!!!! LOL

Bump for sled pull updates.
Considering I brought a knife to a gun fight, I think I did really well haha. I had no idea atv sled pulling was such a big deal in SE Ohio. I went just for the hell of it since it was relatively close and sounded fun.

There were more guys running full on sled only setups with dick cepek puller tires than trail rideable atv's. I'd put money on that I was the only person with less than 70 or 80 hp in the classes I ran in. I'd be shocked if I had 40hp at the wheels LOL.

Diesel Sportsman

Not to hijack your thread but picked up a new toy last night. Not nearly in as good of condition but it runs well and just needs some TLC I have all the parts to put it back together also.

Now I just need to figure out how to turn the pump up.:lolly:

Mainly going to use it for plowing and some deer hunting. I have a tiny little turbo sitting in the shed that may end up on it.:charger:

When are we going to see the kit for sale? I like what you did. Hints for others. I know that smart has a 700cc turbo diesel, and the turbos from kei-cars should work well. I know that my 650cc Daihatsu gasser with a vq37 is ridiculously small.

Don't know if we ever will see a kit of sorts. Can't really imagine there's a huge demand for a turbo kit. There can't be more than a couple people at most that would actually spend the money on it. These things are rare, and people seriously wanting to turbo them are even rarer. It is fun and sounds cool as hell though :Cheer:. Going to the Badlands dec 3rd so I should be able to get a good feel for how it really rides then.

Welllllll, a couple weeks ago, I had a little oops. For the first time ever, I couldn't be happier that I had full coverage insurance.

Went from this

New frame, plastics, racks, bars, wheels, a arms, etc. When 950lbs tumbles, it messes some sh!t up! Front bumper is the last thing I'm waiting on to come in.

Going to the badlands this weekend to get it all muddy :Cheer:
