The someday 2.6 truck build

6.4 F-350

Thought I would post this up, it has been about 2 years since starting the build. Been a slow road collecting a lot of slightly used parts from members on here, and I have learned a ton along the way. I would like to thank Snedge and CSnyder on here for the great parts, service and advice along the way. I know I am not breaking any new ground here but this is the biggest build I have ever undertaken, and I am pretty proud of it so far.
Here is where the road began.
The rusty roller from OH, with my little man taking of stickers before I saw the fender flares were held on with spray foam.LOL

Turned it into 375.00 along with some other steel that needed a new home.

I wanted to make a weight box instead of the bracket to house fuel cell, batteries and a tank for the air to water.

I blocked off about 30" on the passenger side for the water tank, after I did it I wish I would have put it in the center, but live and learn I guess.

I had a local fabricator build the cover, it turned out ok but I am going to redo it at some point.

I spent quite a bit of time cleaning up some stuff on it and reworked the hitch to make it fit the rules better for both PPL and some of the local brush pulls in western WI.

Here is how it sit's as of right now, all of the driveline is built just waiting on a body. The most expensive hose reel, slash workbench I have ever owned.LOL

I visited the body shop today and I was told a week from Friday, then on to plumbing and wiring. But they have made progress, I dropped everything off February of last year. LOL

Almost everything else. I gave the cab to the body shop as soon as I got it, so nothing got mocked up before paint.

You look like you have the drive line complete, just wiring and small stuff? I took mine down to the frame last winter, I know your pain!

I do still need to swap gears front and rear but yes the motor trans and clutch are done besides a few trinkets and plumbing.

Found some engine build pics.
The overwhelming moment when you get home from the machine shop, and realize you have never put a 12 valve together from scratch and think will I have any friends left after this.

I spent a ton of time cleaning and painting parts.

Here is one pic after I got the lower end together, broke one ring in the process. So with shipping and family life it took me 2 weeks to get this far.

I had the machine shop balance the lower end, put in new cam bushings. I am using 286110 Mahle pistons, Harts 5X25 Dual fed injectors, I got a nice ported and polished head from 99 Cumminsboy along with a 13MM Shied built P pump. Kept searching and got a ZZ fab intake along with a Woodruff roller cam from Takedown 95. I made it to this point and realize that factory length pushrods won't work.

No Limit machine was able to make me custom length pushrods so finally it's all together and sitting in the frame.

I was able to score a straight T6 Steed speed from TMoney, and bolted a Garret GT50 to it. I would really like to upgrade to a larger charger but I am going to finish and run the thing before dumping any more money down this black hole of a project.

Im with Jeff. No thanks needed and happy to help you. It looks great Don and I for one cant wait to see it run.

Nice build man. I'm in the same boat as you...SOMEDAY pulling truck. My truck last ran in 2010...I am about a month away from test firing the engine, but still months or even a year from having it ready to pull again.
