I think that what you are trying to accomplish may be benificial.
I also think that someone trying to achieve the horsepower levels that this mod would be benificial to would have gone to a sigma already and not have to worry about the problem you are trying to fix.
If you believe that this modification would prolong barrel/plunger life, then sell the idea to Bosch.
People, such as yourself, of your 'stature' or with your 'reputation' should have better things to do with their time than to ask a bunch of people on a forum if your idea will work. Call scheid. Call haisley. Call bosch. Call cummins.

Judging from my reading experience, Don asks genuine questions - and respects the answers given to him. Whether or not he searched the site fully before posting, I dont know. I would go so far as to say that he's not out to start a **** slinging match regarding anything.
