1967 RS Duramax Camaro

Pull your speed sensor out of the tailshaft. If you are using a 47rh. It's gear driven.. Looks a lot like Speedo gears for a518 mechanical Speedometer

Really... Very interesting. If I understand what you're saying, I might be able to use an a518 cable in the rh and run it to my speedometer? If that's the case, I know what I'm doing for gauges now.

Possibly, that is the plan my brother is going with.. Check it out. You might need to get a part made to work it correctly, but it's a for sure shot.

I'm going to see if I can track down a cable for a 518. The tranny is in a million pieces right now waiting for parts to show up. What's your brother trying to retrofit it to?

Go get an eccentric out of a cable driven dodge, it goes in the case, a 7/8 nut cable screws to it and go from there. On my Truck I had to pull the end off a dodge, removed the end off the ford, and attach the dodge, it works great.
Also look at the eccentric where the hold down goes, there are marks to line up depending what gear you need, there is a mark in the case you match it to.

Cable driven Speedo in his 73 Chrysler wagon...

Down right gorgeous.

:thankyou2:

Thanks for the info, I think I have a good plan for getting it hooked up now.

awesome build man!!! cant wait to see it run.

That red is LOUD and I love it!! Great build keep up the great work.

Thanks guys, I appreciate all the info and compliments. As of right now, I'm still waiting for the last of my tranny parts to come from suncoast, so I have been unable to get the motor and tranny back into the camaro. So I have made the decision to not make the trip up to redding this Saturday for the Jefferson State Diesel Nationals. It doesn't make sense to me to load the car on a trailer and show everybody a duramax camaro without a duramax in it...

I will continue to work on it and get it running soon, I promise.

I have gotten the speedo gear and housing from 518's and a 727, and they work in these 47RH's. I've also used them in 241DLD/DHD tcases too.

Bump. Any progress?

Been really busy. Photos to prove it...

My converter and reverse manual valve body with transbrake came from Sun Coast. Painted the tranny red to match the car also. Hard to believe a tranny goes from this...

Big thanks to Don and Russel for getting the tranny ironed out for me :Cheer:

Got the tranny bolted to the Duramax and stuffed it between the frame rails on Saturday.

It's finally time to start reassembly and start hooking things up. I will be mounting the front sheet metal this week and taking measurements for fuel line, brake lines, intake and intercooler plumbing and radiator hoses.

I will keep you guys posted. It might be running in a couple weeks.

Looks awesome. Maybe it's the angle of the pic, but the turbo looks really close to the firewall. How much room is there? Can you fit an aftermarket downpipe, or will you have to use a stock one?

Hey Josh, it's mostly the angle of the picture. The stock down pipe fits with a ton of room. I'm probably going to get it running with the stock one, then either make a down pipe and short exhaust exit under the car, or, follow a suggestion from a good friend and make a very short hood stack. I'm leaning towards the exhaust exiting under the car and to the side...

Looking great! But please do not cut the hood and put a hood stack on this car!!!

I figured it was the angle. I'm really looking forward to seeing videos of this thing doing some burnouts in a few weeks! :ft:
