2.6 Turbo Limitations

So 10 hp mmmm what about the tractor setup if i would be 10hp behind the leader instead of spending hours and dollars on dyno i would look into tractor setup

maybe 10hp is why they are 2 time grand national champs. the point is that when you start to limit everything it is going to get more costly to build a wining truck.

next thing you know you are buying 8 sets of injectors and 4 different cams, 3 sets of different compression pistons, stroker kits and so on then spending 1000's on dyno time to see what makes the most power. not that that isn't what the top guys are doing anyways.

2.6

PT leave me out of this i'm trying to stay under the radar with my fuel cell big tires and custom charger i got from Woodruff diesel that was cheaper than most of the regulars chargers out there.

A little hard to stay under the radar when your truck runs like it does Mr Milby!:rockwoot:

THAT NAIL HAS BEEN HIT SQUARELY A FEW HUNDRED TIME IN WS AND 2.5/2.6 THE LAST FEW YEARS!!!!

Cooper, I thought you got over that whining bug last summer?LOL

Milby doesn't run that good-he just learned a long time ago, there is 300 ft, not 3 ft to a track.

I also will guarantee, Milby doesn't have a bottomless budget, like a lot of trucks he runs against.

Since this thread has exposed all the rules stretchers, and... constructive criticism extraordinaires, what is a fair purse for this class?

Well....considering the huge cost of building a 2.6 truck, I would think a $10,000 purse would be fair.LOLLOL

What is wrong with the present payout?

I never said Milby had a big budget. He spent the money where he needed to.

As far as me going 3'.:kick: I could have girled out dropped a gear and finished mid pack. But thats not how I work. I went big and broke big. Now I have better parts I will try it again.

Excellent point.
2 different classes of pullers wanted the 2.6. The guys who couldn't compete with a stock turbo and just HAD to have an aftermarket.

And the guys who couldn't afford running the 2.8 class, because it had too much power for the drivetrain, and the turbos cost too much. Now, those same guys are talking about building $5000 turbos, for POWER thats going to break their drivetrain.

:bang:bang:bang:bang

make 2- 2.6'' classes, A s300 and a s400 2.6" class if people think cost is going to be the issue

I think alot of people including myself are going to have custom chargers built. Thats really the only way people can be competive.

Gene i'm not sure how to take that comment. i'm sure u ment it as compliment as u only say things to encourage people, and i just use the resources i have. That includes Woodruffs, PTchassis,Milby Automotive and alot of pulling friends and competitors.

the purses was fair i thought @ london and zanesville

Absolutely that was a compliment to you.

Thanks for the purse comment!

The first part of that is true. Its not just about the people in the sport currently, concerns on how to grow the sport also factor in there. The higher the bar gets raised in the lower class's the more entry level guys will shy away. The fewer trucks that run the more boring the events are. I dont think its a secret that the entry fee the trucks pay isnt what makes big payouts, its people in the seats. Keeping puller's in the class is important but so is adding new ones. Cultivation of the sport and increased exposure. Those have to be kept in mind.

Chris I agree with you 100%!

Now all you guys sound like you know your stuff. So what would be the top 3 2.6 chargers you can buy "off the shelf" and how do they compare to a custom built 2.6 and a custom built 2.8 or 3.0 with a 2.6 cover? I'm new to the game and trying to gain some knowlege here so help me out!

I am also in the market for my first 2.6 turbo and like many of you... on a budget, so I need all the help I can get!

Josh

Since all this is coming out for everyone to see I have a question. I have two S400's. One is an S465 slip fit comp and one is an S470ETT flanged housing, both have .96 exhaust housings. What's the best one to start with and what would you do?
I ran the 470 all summer and never got the tuning right until the last pull at McConnellsburg.

how does the s465 flow compared to htt66 or industerial 66
i heard 465 flow way better
