2.6 Turbo Limitations

but what about the guy that this class was made for the guy that just wanted to keep his truck a daily driver and step up to a little bit bigger charger. $$$$$$

That guy will place where he always has-out of the money. You swap a turbo from stock, you better come loaded for bear.

I might be asking a silly question, but why are people talking about a 2.6" charger that has a 100mm wheel inside as if it weren't a custom charger?

Can someone point me to a normal charger that is 2.6" with a 100mm wheel?

Well, Kat, the major problem most times in a rules discussion thread, Is Competitor A who does well, wants to have new rules to, "save the class" , but in reality, he(she) is just trying to protect their lead.

In other words, the guys who had custom turbos last year, do not want 2nd place getting a custom CUSTOM turbo, and kicking their tails.

It makes it very difficult to sort through the information and make a good decision, but hey, somebody has to do it!!:hehe::banned::rules:

so why has the NTPA done so well for years if NASCAR ruleing is so bad ? they have rules for everything yet very competetive and still doing well.

and tech isn't a problem you send them the charger, they seal it and your good as long as the seal hasn't been broke = no more turbo techin at the track.

Thats exactly what ITPA is doing this year. Bring the turbo down sometime before the first pull to one of the techs. Get it measured and passed, then seal it up. Only thing thech officials have to do at a pull is see if the seal has been broken. This will help keep tech lines down, and every one happy.

As for the 100mm rules, if someone is whineing that its too small, why are they running 2.6 to begin with? IF they dont think 7-800hp isnt engough, jump up a class. Keep a 2.6 class for the guys that dont have the money to run a 3.0 class, but dont want to brush pull every weekend and get screwed over running for a $50 1st place.

Does anyone know the inducer size on the 6.7 Cummins?

man this is getting good!!

I knew this thread would take off eventually. Its gunna be a hot debate for a while, i would imagine. Looks like anyone who wants to play with the boys in 2.6 had better come with ALOT of motor and grit teeth, cuz this aint no STREET CLASS anymore.

Really it is no different then this year, the rules did not change for '09.

I agree with you here. I am not knockin ED or schieds, columbus diesel and whoever else builds customs chargers, because once i get my money together, i will own one of them bad boys. But the the main thing different between a custom s465 and a spec 66 tubo from II or HTT or anydody else is basically the custom charger is not truelly a street charger. A silver bullet would be alot better on a everyday driver. A 465 is pupose built to pull and takes custom mods to get hooked up, the others are "drop in" turbos. Chris has made some good points on cookie cutter turbos and i see both sides, but how many people actually want to dd a 465 (other than me)? This rule will take some serious discussions to iron out.

One i get my money, my money will be ED's money!!! Tim

I will be running a STOCK 2.6" charger for 09' (65mm inducer 91mm exducer) :hehe:.

Its the nature of the beast. GO BIG OR STAY HOME. people in this sport are always going to push the limits of what can be done, the only thing holdin us back are the RULES set forth. This can only get as stupid as the santioning bodies allow it to! Remember this supposed to be about the best interests of the sport(which are the people in it). It would be different if there were only 2 classes, but NADM has WS, 2.6, 2.8, 3.0 ect. So if you want big custom chargers there is a class for you! $.02

Which is why I dont understand why NADM doesnt allow water in the 2.6 class. I dont complain when I get waxxed by someone with 10k in their motor and I'm still running a stock charger and my truck is setup for the street...but it is oh so sweet to see the look on their face when its the other way around.

The first part of that is true. Its not just about the people in the sport currently, concerns on how to grow the sport also factor in there. The higher the bar gets raised in the lower class's the more entry level guys will shy away. The fewer trucks that run the more boring the events are. I dont think its a secret that the entry fee the trucks pay isnt what makes big payouts, its people in the seats. Keeping puller's in the class is important but so is adding new ones. Cultivation of the sport and increased exposure. Those have to be kept in mind.

We need to get something very clear here. NADM 2009 2.6 turbo rule is the same as it was in 2008. Cooper, This isn't the NADM forum, and you are on the edge of attacking me/NADM for making a "change" that isn't even there!!!!!

The bottom line is this: If your pulling budget is $5000, and your buddys is $100,000, you have a good chance of losing no matter what the rules say.

That cannot be stopped.

When we see a large number of pullers agreeing on a plan to tighten the turbo rule that doesn't just pick on the winner,(rpm rule anyone?) but actually will benefit the class as a whole, we'll listen.

As far as major changes to rules, I think I have proven from one organization to another, I don't change the rules willy nilly.

Attacking you? Aw, do you need a hug? :hehe:

Piss on it. The rules are what they are! Game on!
