2.6 Turbo Limitations

What does it really boil down too, do you just want to hook to have fun or do you want to compete? If your doing it for the fun of feeling that power no matter what charger of sticks or pump you have it shouldnt matter, what someone else spends on there truck for the class, if you cant compete, find a brush pull or drop down a class

Well Look at it this way. Run for fun till you get the truck dialed in and then if you can still run within your budget and compete. do it. Usually it don't take a whole lot to compete in brush pulls and some local pulls. That is how most of us started. I still pulled my daily driver this past season and did vary well.

what You Don't Think Anyone Will Run Custom Chargers If They Had A 100mm Rule. We Had 5 Or 6 Running Custom Chargers Last Year In Our 2.6 Class W/ 100mm Rule.

Yeah, I do, and I don't think it's healthy for this class, and you're never going to change my mind on it.

we had a 100mm rule last year....now i have heard they got rid of it. i personally think its a good idea. makes the class more fair. its stupid when you can somehow make a 3 inch charger into a 2.6

But look at the plus side, it's so easy to tech!

...which is going to be good, when all the 2.8" and some of the SS trucks invade the 2.6" class, just by changing covers, thus creating a hell of a line.

I WOULD LIKE TO KEEP THE 100MM RULE ALSO BUT WE HAD SOME TROUBLE LAST YEAR WHEN THEY TRIED TO ENFORCE IT. SOME CRY BABY WHINE A$$ AND HIS FAN CLUB DIDN'T THINK THEY SHOULD BE TECHED @ URBANA LAST YEAR. AFTER THAT LITTLE ORDEAL IT WAS DECIDED TO DO AWAY WITH THE 100MM RULE FOR "09". THESE FAIRS DON'T WANT TO DEAL W/ ALL THE B.S. THEY JUST WANT A GOOD SHOW @ A FAST PACE.

I sat their the whole night just to watch cause I knew they were legal, It don't matter who ya are if you truck wins alot people will cry. So I do not know who u are talkin about but everyone in question tore their chargers down and they were all legal so get on with life.

O and when they come out this year and whip some ass I guess all these sour asses will have to try and pin something else on them.

Would you guys rather have a spec turbo, everybody had to buy the same one from Company ABC, and you are not allowed inside of it?

Just asking.

Sleddy as u know their are just that few that always cry.

A spec turbo, and people thought they had $$$ concerns about custom 2.6 chargers. Changing their set ups to accommodate a spec'd charger would far surpass buying one that works on the set up you have already.

Thats not saying anything bad towards you Gene. I know your just putting it out there. Escalating costs to stay competitive have been brought up and directed as to why the custom chargers need to go away. That plan would cost more IMO.

Geez, PT, you sure put up a heck of a fuss just to agree with me in the end!

Why didn't you just toss the whiner? I'd post the rule this way, Sleddy style:

"If you are not willing to remove your compressor cover, thanks for the donation."

And on the spec charger issue, I'd be willing to bet that it would work, given some time. If the friggin' SuperFarm tractors can do it, what stops the trucks from doing it? Give people free roam on turbine A/R and otherwise stick it shut. I know it would not be without difficulty, that's par for the course, but it could really pay off down the road.

How else can cost containment be achieved and keep the sport growing? It would be interesting to see how many new trucks show up this year versus last. Sometimes you hear people say "look how many trucks we had" but that doesn't tell you if it's growing or not. And for NADM and the sponsors, growth needs to be demonstrated in numbers so you can snag more sponsorship. I imagine this year will be a real challenge.

Have you ever priced a superfarm turbo? They make a custom 2.6 look cheap.

If you did that in the midwest, you would have 1500 Hp trucks.

That would be cool to see, but the little guy would be screwed. There for the sport would not grow vary well. and would lose all the trucks. We have seen this in our area over the past few years. We have to remember that this sport started out by the little guys coming out to out pull there neighbors and having a good time. We still have good numbers but some of the smaller pulls now have only a couple of trucks that show up. This past year was the first year that we set up a stock class and a open class. It worked pretty well. This coming year we have set rules and saftey rules also. We are hoping for the sport to grow now. I will be doing my part as a diesel class tech and doing some promoting. Should be a great season.

Quick Question....

are modifications allowed to the inducer entrance region before the MWE on the compressor cover? Just currious cuz a 2.6 turbo could benefit from a 7/16 inch radius blended into the bore just before the MWE.....

Yes he has both of us have one. Depending on which spec turbo you have they can be pretty reasonable. I bought a GT42 plain bearing for $1200. I can drive 30mins and the local pump shop has them sitting on the shelf. Not sure what the price is now. But it is not crazy out of line IMHO.
