2 Stroke Oil

I run about 1qt to a fill up. 2 stroke, non detergent 30wt, or what I drained out at the last oil change.
I'm thinking it adds a little lubricity, but you wont see much effect on performance. If you go with a bigger dose, depending on where your timing is set, you might actually notice it running a bit quieter, & see a little change in milage, as it slows the burn rate a little.
(& I THINK it adds a little BTU content.)
Billy, hit that Mopar man link, is an intresting read, I checked it out a few months ago.

My truck has run a bit smoother and quieter, can't really tell any performance gains, but it does wrap up a bit quicker (or seems to, no empirical knowledge). I'm reading through the link now, good stuff.

Just read the info on the web page and have to wonder a little about the cetane being a bad thing. The only reason I say this is because in europe they run at least a 52 and that is why they get better fuel economy than the American diesels.
I was told this by Marco who said that he got alot of flack about his smarty fuel saver setting not getting the economy it claimed and after alot of research he had a 50 gal. drum of American diesel sent to Italy and the critics were right, but it wasn't the software, it was the poor fuel.
I'm all for a great fuel additive, and you bet I will try 2-stroke oil, but I might be a little sceptical of hp/tq increases. Not sure that can be done just by lubricating the fuel.
I would like to give the guy who wrote the web page credit, needs to be more expiermenters like him in the world willing to try new things and inform everyone so well.
Also, what ever happened to putting ATF in your fuel? My boss has a 6.5 GM and the shop he takes it to told him to put a quart in every tank, got 278,000 on the od and still running weak, but running.

The bad part of running ATF fluid is its red and I wouldnt take the chance of getting caught running red fuel (off road diesel) fines are pretty high and every once in awhile they have road blocks here locally.

Call me Crazy, but I like to make a mixture of additives ....Approx. a Qt. or more per fill up.....

I mix:

Watercraft 2 Stroke Oil
Lucas additive
Cetane booster
and theres one more but I forgot the name.....

I'll try anything....:rockwoot:

Anyway, I feel like its a little quieter..Might even smoke a little more....Power feels the same though...Of
Course, How much "Seat of the Pants" HP can ANY additive make???????

I do it mainly for the "supposed" longevity" of my fuel system and engine.....This truck is gonna have to last me a long while!!! Only 50K on her now.....I like to keep her till she dies....Or I do!!!!:hehe:

Just my $.02

"CUMMINS GUYS KEEP IT STRAIGHT!!! THOSE OTHER GUYS SWING BOTH WAYS!!!"

i run 8oz per 35 gallons, would like to run more but not sure how much i can go.

not to hijack or anything, and excuse my ignorance, but can I run some 2 stroke in my 6.0? Ive got a hell of a rough idle.

To my knowledge, If its a Diesel..You can use 2 stroke oil.......

Dex, start out at putting maybe .5 oz to the gallon. Then slowly work your way up to 1 oz per gallon.

Colin, just admit to yourself that you lost an injector or two and pony up the cash for some new one's. We all understand, it's a ford thing. It's cool to admit it. LOL

You could go as high as 2oz per gallon and be OK. Right now I have 2 quarts in about 35 gallon and it's purring like a kitten. If this VP 44 will take it just fine I know your P-pump will.

Colin, I would try some Lucas cleaner along with the oil, sounds more like a dirty injector than anything.

ATF is suppose to be bad for a VP44.

im not really worried about the pump, more of it smoking blue like my dirtbike.:hehe:

Inline> I haven't seen any yet, and yes, I have been looking LOL

Philly> As explained to me, tranny fluid is made to carry heat, hence it doesn't burn very well. 2 stroke oil OTOH is made to combust and is much less likely to give you deposit build ups in the motor.

Definately give it a try. Thanks!

Well I notice that there is a few question about use of 2 cycle oil from my web site...

The normal dose for a Dodge Cummins is 128:1 Ratio (or 1 oz of oil for every gallon of fuel).

If there is any question I'll be glad to answer them...

As for using MMO I would highly reconsider it... Go to my HFRR of additives...
http://mopar.mopar1973man.com/2002 Dodge/Tips & Tricks/2 cycle oil/HFRR/HFRR.htm

Anything higher than 520 HFRR is NOT RECOMMENDED to use... It can cause more wear to your fuel system than straight #2 diesel...

You want the lowest HFRR number you can get but anything below the 520 HFRR mark is fine to use... As you can see 2 cycle oil did better than most common additives...$.02
