2nd gen Turbonetics setup on my CR

Looks like the outlet flange on the t4 .70a/r housing is bigger in diameter but hard to tell from that picture. Also the "snail shell" seems to be a bit more tapered with your t3 housing vs the .70 housing but maybe that's the difference of a/r between the two. In any event like I said Matt i'm very interested in trying the two housings (my .84a/r t4 vs that .70a/r t4) so pm me if you want to work something out! Thanks!

Nick
I believe the outlets are the same. & yes, the scroll taper is much more dramatic on th 84.
Post up some good EGT, drive & boost numbers from the 84 & PM me your mailing address.

you sir have a pm!

Well after drive pressure reading results I think the 70, even with an external gate, may not be the way to go for me. Thanks for the super kind offer though Matt!

A gate will make a huge difference, it did for me. I'd be interested in seeing a back to back with the .83 and the .70, both hp and spool-up wise.

I am not going to be getting a gate right away so no 70 a/r housing for me. I'd imagine one would need the largest of gates to make 550+rwhp with a 70 housing but that's just my guess.

I got my MP-8 installed... Thought I was setting the Smarty Rail setting to "stock" when I set it to 1... duh...

giving the MP8 a 1/4 turn definately gave it some SOP, but the very bottom end didn't really change much. I think it might need more pump for that?

I guess I'm kinda up in the air on this thing for the moment. It's fun, and EVERYBODY around here is asking me "what do I have to do to my truck to get it to sound like that?!"

But I'm just not sure that this combo will be altitude friendly :o

with a manual tranny it would be zero issue... once this thing's got 2200 on the tach locked up, it's humping, but out of lockup or at low RPM in lockup it's still a little soggy.

Runs REALLY good on the big end, and no matter what I do, how I lug it, etc. I can't get it over 1300* (at least with 75* ambient) it's ~55* out right now, and I couldn't get it over 1200*

am I crazy? I don't know much about CR's... what kind of temps would a stock turbo make w/ this combo? a 62? Just trying to gauge if these numbers are really that impressive or if it's to be expected.

my '04 would make 1400* with 50hp nozzles TNT on level 9, TST on level 4, but that was at 60psi with twins. Still on the stock CP3 holding 22.5k psi.

I do attribute 150* or more of that to the header, so I guess it does make decent sense

Forrest, don't the 06's like you have fuel alot harder with stock injectors and less done the trucks previous to 04.5? Also, did the added fuel give you any more boost?

Yeah those are pretty good numbers. With a stock turbo I would bet they would be 300-400* hotter.

Do a search under my name, i've got a video up with the back slider open with the same turbo. It's a 12v though not a CR

Nick, I wish I had dyno number to compare... the '04 definately pulled harder on the big end than this truck, but my butt dyno isn't calibrated well enough to tell how much harder.

I just scrolled through the options on the Smarty and was about to program it to 0 rail pressure and it came up as "default", so I DID have it on stock rail pressure last night. I'll play with it some more today, I just don't like seeing the rail pressure go above 25k.

This '06 cruises with a lot more rail than my '04 did!!

well, the truck is plenty drivable... especially now that I took the TNT down from 9 to 7... it doesn't smoke its ass off now. I think with a manual tranny it would make for a really sweet setup. the highest EGT I've seen is 1300*

and I have no problem spooling it up quickly against the converter, so it would be great at the track...

but... as I don't drag race and make it up over 10,000ft often enough?

I'm pulling it off and putting my sps62 on...

Maybe put in a different Cam Forrest? Then you would take advantage of the additional airflow of the larger charger but get a lot better spoolup than what you have now???
