8000lb diesel classes: A thing of the past!

wouldnt there be potential to break more parts at a 500lb heavier class, now "potentially" if more trucks break, that takes longer to remove parts/trucks. and if there is potential to break more stuff, i dont think the insurance companies would care for that(just throwing things out here) what are these trucks weighing right out of the dealer lot? just think if you had a lighter truck, the fuel saving would be awesome!

forget it guys....just take the bed off, the cab off. sit on a milk crate and have a stick to push the throttle down. Then you can put weight wherever you want.

More weight=more breaking.
If we give the fat trucks 8500, I GARRENTIE, they will come in stripped,. with 500 pounds hanging on the front end.

DEAF EAR HERE, dead issue.:thankyou2:

how about this then 8000 with hanging weights and fat trucks can do 8500lbs no hangin weights i cant make 8k anymore 8100 if i am lucky!

I guess you could run fiberglass hood and fenders.
no can do, dhra rules say no fiberglass pannels allowed or id have a hood allready

I weight 6800lbs light. I would run out of places to put weight at 8500.

I guess that means a really don't give a hoot either way.

well what about carbon fiber? you could put lightweight racing seats in...but those aren't fat boy friendly so I wouldn't like em. lose the stock glass and put in lexan but thats big money. I'm at a loss for ideas

Exactly

All of the other pulling classes seem to be 8500 except for DHRA. Now with the added stuff I have to have this year as far as more shields and saftey equipmet that DHRA requires I am not sure I can even get to 8k. I just know that I am going to get to Indy and I am gonna wiegh in at about 8100 with the it stripped down and they wont let me pull and I will be pissed, what am I supposed to do? There is only so much I can take off or out of the truck! :bang

Not sure but i know here they have 2 diesel classes up til the last couple of yrs. 7200 and 8500. i never got weighed and got put in the 8500 pound class just because i havea crew cab long box dually. they assumed i weighed over the the 7200. when in reality the truck weighed 7120 with me in the truck. i added NO weight because they wouldnt allow switchin of weight between trucks. so my brother and i had to pull in the heavy class with the LIGHTEST truck in the class. I would have owned the 7200 class but in stead my truck took 4th and 5th place at the pull. 3rd beat me by 5 ft, 2nd by 8, and first by 68ft....so i dont think weight is a problem. bump the class to 8500 and let the big boys play....and its not just a dually problem, my brothers 05 F350 weighs in at 8400 and there isnt much he can strip off the truck to cut weight. Its just weight, and u dont just have to u tractor weights to add weight.

things i got remove to make 8k
tool box, train horns, air compressior, tail gate, back seat, center consle, one batery, plow mount,
things allready taken off the truck
sway bars, heat shields, fuel tank shield, skid plates, one rear cross member,

Perhaps try a separate 8500lb class if that is the true problem.

But if an 8500lb guy says "No, we want just one class. 8500 only", then the real problem is they want an advantage for their trucks.

im not sayin u should have to cut weight joe. i say the lil trucks shoudl add weight. or they need to make a different class for the lightweights

Actually no they wont if u havea properly set up truck. i gave up 1200 pounds and beat 12 other trucks and only lost to 3.......

Another class would be out of the question. How can guys like me and house have the advantage when we can not hang ANY wieghts for ballast when the 2nd Gen Dodge next to us can hang 2k if he wants? The only advantage we have is the length of our chassis.

I am with Joe, I am rackin my brain to try and figure out how to drop 300#'s before Indy.

Wheelbase is an advantage. At the same weight, you have more leverage.

While they can hang weights, having the engine 4' forward is better.

I wish more truck brands wieghed as much as Fords then this wouldnt be an issue.

Seems like every other venue besides DHRA has 8500 so I would bet that most guys that run DHRA pull 8500 class in thier local pulling association.

my puller in my sig weighs 8k with 500lbs. hanging in the front i have my tailgate and gooseneck hitch still attached and i weigh personaly over 380lbs. yes its a dually and no the back seat is gone and its a qc we have had some people find out that we were not weighing in and they went and filled up their big a transfer tank dont tell me weight dont matter

Ryan its a lil easier for you, you dont weigh in at 460
