8000lb diesel classes: A thing of the past!

I agree it needs to be 8,500. My truck weighs in at 8,400 with a full tank of fuel. To make 8,000 I have to drop the spare, Toolbox, tailgate, and have a half tank of fuel, or less.toolbox alone is almost 250. My truck is a CC shortbed single rear wheel. If I had a longbed dually there is no way.I still have to add Driveshaft Loops, U-Joint Shields, and some other stuff. This is going to add more weight. The
:rules: are starting to suck. I think I have more fun at the run what you brung pulls.

can you put an aluminum flatbed on the truck? or do you have to run stock bed? I realize this is getting to be a pita. Just set your truck up to run the best way it can. Why not make an 8500 weight pull and see how many participate.

Last time my truck went across the scale I weighed in at 8080. CC short box, with 35" tires, full of fuel. No tool boxes. I haven't added the drive shaft loops yet.

Drive shaft loops don't weigh what Joes plow bracket weighs.

my loops and shields weigh in at around 70lbs
plow bracket is on cause the new plow has down pressure and is wonder for spreading gravel drive ways

well I guess get lightweight racing seats. drill holes in the frame, go on the atkins diet...I don't know...

Maybe an 11,000lb class would be good to add on for "heavy" trucks. This would allow the Kodiaks to run and the heavy pickups. Now the heavys would have to add 2,500lb to be competitive with a Kodiak, and they would be at a disadvantage on wheelbase, but what is good for the goose is good for the gander. But since weight and wheelbase aren't really advantages, they wouldn't actually have to add weight. This basically puts the heavys in the same position they want to impose on the 6500lb trucks, being grossly underweight and shorter.

While to an extent I'm being sarcastic, mostly I'm not. I've seen Kodiaks at several events, but they are not allowed to pull except exhibition. These are Duramax 4500's with the diesel pickup engines. They are fairly popular "consumer" tow vehicles, one the locals even drag races his extensively. This would preclude the heavys from reducing weight and at the same time increase the competitor base. It would be fun to watch F-450's, Kodiaks, TopKicks pulling. And since the Cummins is a medium duty engine and the Dmax ain't, there should be no problem with the medium duty aspect.

My main point that I am trying to make here is 80% of the pulling associations are at 8500#'s. So most of these guys with the light wieght trucks are already used to pulling in this class, we are not trying to change the world here just trying to not have to rape our trucks for 20 seconds of track time.

I am not afriad of Kodiaks theres a few that pull around here at the no limit classes, they never do that good

Have them gimme a call. I can fix that. :D

There is a 800+ HP Kodiak running around that I'm "aware" of. It's 2.8" legal and spins to 4500 on 5.88? gears.

I thought they ran an inline six duramax. the 7800 w/e it was.

Only in the 6500-8500 Kodiaks...the 45-5500's are still the 6.6L V8 Duramax LB7's IIRC

All you fat trucks come to Indy, and I'll let you pull exhibition, after quals are over.
I'll give the winner 50/50 payback of entry fees.
