84 Chevy Crew Cab 12v Conversion

So today I got a few more boxed pieces made for the frame. Also welded all the nuts to the frame for my front body/spring mounts. Not going to final weld the stuff in till I get my bushings from Diy4x for the front shackles.

want another one?

I doubt it. My uncle is the only one that still farms and all he has is 40 acers to farm. My grandpa and dad now have a guy farm their land because they dont have enough land to really make any money farming it themselves.

This weekend I picked up some new bucket seats with a matching center console. They are out of a newer gm truck. Not exactly sure on the year but they seem to fit great in my truck. Just gotta get them mounted and they should be good to go. They sit a little high, but I am 6'4" and it seems to be fine for me.

Might get the frame done this weekend if I have the parts I need by then.

Do u think the d44 will hold up to the torque of the cummins at 400hp or am i overthinking? Also are u regearing or nehh

The D44 will not hold up to the torque of the cummins at that power. Im kind of afraid of the ball joints with the weight of the motor. But I put new ball joints in less than 200 miles ago so I think it should last while I am able to get a D60 (Getting a D60 from a 93 dodge with 3.54 gears). I am currently running 4.10 gears. With 33 tires I would like to have like 3.54 or 3.73 gears, but I am starting to think about putting the truck up on the 37 inch hummer tires and keeping it SRW for right now till it runs and then maybe find some 16.5 dually wheels.

D44's held the weight of Big Block Chevy's and snow plows for years and years. I think it'll support it, but not take the power until you upgrade axles and u-joints. But the D60 is the far superior choice.

I think it will be fine, i just think that the ball joints wont last as long. As far as upgrading axles and u-joints for the price of that upgraded stuff you can still get a stronger D60 haha. And I got a guy basically holding a D60 for me till I get the money to go get it.

Also another ? If ur keeping it srw u might go little higher and 37s or drw with this hight and 33s and what rims are u going with? love the work you doing and your plan sounds awesome

Right now as it is pictured it has 4 inches of lift and 33s on it. I've seen several of these trucks with 4 inches of lift and 37s. I may go to 6 inches of lift if I go with 37s but I don't want to make the truck to tall because I want to be able to pull a gooseneck with it.

The rims I plan on going with right now are what look to be some aftermarket 12 inch wide 16.5 wagon wheels for the srw and 37's. If I go drw I will probably keep the front srw and run some stock 16.5 dually wheels in the rear with a 3 inch wide spacer between the wheels.

Yea i understand keeping it lifted and still being able to tow with. My dad has a 11' silverado and wanted a lifted look but didnt wanna ruing towing a boat and snowmobile trailers.

Yeah that is what I plan on doing. Have the lifted look but be able to pull a bumper pull or gooseneck when I need to. Not just putting a 12v in it for the cool factor, putting it in there to make it work!

Well today I got my diy4x bushings for the front shackles. Looks like they will do just what I want and will really beef up the front some.

Boxing plate is just sat in there for mocking. I had to push the plate that goes around this bushing in a 1/4 of an inch to be able to weld the dom tube to it. So there will be a little lip right there instead of it being flush. Hoping to get those welded up some time this week and get the frame done.

Well I finally got these welded into the frame. Looks like they are going to beef this up a lot.
