Got the cab back on tonight.

That is my dad in the pic, he has been helping me with all of this. You can see my A frame in the pic that I extended 3 feet to make it be able to pick the cab up.

Another view.

Well ran into a problem today. The 12v that I got is a 98 or 99 block. It had a SAE bell housing adapter on the back of it and Ryan (DieselWrencher) let me borrow an adapter from a CR. Found out that only 6 of the 8 bolts line up, and for some reason it will not fit onto the two line up pens that stick out of the block. Anyone ever tried this?

Well I have not figured out anything about the adapter plate just yet. Still looking. But I did decided to lower the motor into the frame to try to get an idea of what kind of room I have.

Looks like I will have quite a bit of room to work with. I plan on running two electric fans so I should have some room to play with.

Did u make ur engine mounts or not yet... Sorry if u posted earlier about it

Sent front camo cased otterbox iphone

Well I started getting some ideas for what I wanted to do for mounts. First I started out by cutting out some plates.

Here they are kind of bolted to the block.

After that I decided to make some templates to see what I could come up with for the block. Ive decided I am going to try to put the mounts at a 45 deg angle

As you can see I used a piece of wood to act as the cross member. I am thinking about welding a kind of bracket to the cross member to meet up with the mount for some extra oil pan clearence but I am trying to mount the motor pretty low so I will have to get the block in the frame and see how things fit.

I bought a set of mounts for my ford (used, unsure of co.) But they look alot like what you've got started on the block, then 460 factory mounts bolt to that.
Seems to me they would work good.

^why not use entire 1stgen mounts? they are exacty the same as what you are making

Cause all I will have in them is time. This is left over steel from boxing my frame and all the steel for my frame cost me $10. And I have a lot of time and not so much money and I enjoy cutting and welding metal.

Also because 1st gen uppers will hit the turbo drain, and will not allow the engine to be put where you want it. Keep at it Matt.

That too! Thanks man!

So I am still waiting on some parts before I can start mocking up the motor so I decided to mess with some stuff on the motor.

The first thing I wanted to get figured out was the throttle cable. Ive seen people use a dodge throttle cable, but this motor is set up a lot different than a dodge one so the throttle cable would not have worked. I had a extra chevy cable laying around so I decided to try to make that work. So I made this little bracket.

And here it is installed.

The cable does not look straight, but it becomes straight once you start to pull on the cable. Just plugging away a the little things till I can finally start to mount the motor and transmission.

Sweet build. Im currently looking for a 84 or up 4 dr dually myself. They are hard to find now after all these "cash for clunkers" deals that went on a few years ago

There actually seems to be quite a few for sale around here. Part of me wishes that I would have waited because I have seen more 4x4s for sale now than I ever have.

After boxing in that frame and all that welding, do you think the frame is still straight?

It does not seem to have moved at all from the welding. I did not do full passes when welding it. I did about 2" welds and then moved to a different spot and did more 2" welds. By doing this I was not letting the steel get to hot in one place.

south east kansas. Its been a couple weeks sense I have looked. I hate to look for them cause there seem to be some good ones for sale. I gotta get this one going haha

I heard that. seems i always get more enjoyment in the hunt for a project than actually doing anything with the project once i get it :nail:
