Are the 6.4 really that bad?

i have a 6.4 completly deleted with high flow intake and cac pipe and it sounds smooth as silk as for tuners spartan is overpriced piece of junk, h&s just overpriced for me but i do like how you can use mcc to tweak your tunes if your getting a 6.4 all you need is a full egr delete crank case vent reroute (mine is homebrew with a piece off coolant hose that was left over after egr delete haha) exhaust and custom tunes and i hear all good from matt at gearhead eric from idp and kem tunes everyone just has something they like a little more than the other nothing bad from any of them if you want to go making big power with "hot" tunes driving like a dick (thats me) our gonna start slippin your TC the tranny will hold up for some serious hp so i hear havent made the numbers yet...

Ya my thinking as well in that there is also a TSB out on them as well I believe. Hopefully that is all it is

i think we talked in my thread on powerstroke army not to make you feel bad but my egr delete didnt come with a tic or toc haha good luck to you!!:cheer:

Haha I promise I can spell my thumbs get a little wide on my iPhone from time to time and spell check can't keep up or maybe just one too many beverages.... Hmmmmm

And why am I even in the Ford section, anyway!

I did have to read that post a few times to figure it out, but I managed.

Pretty sure my tick isn't from the EGR delete bud. Did studs at the same time so everything was apart. I think you better just focus on learning how to interact with others before you start getting hated on by every forum your on haha.

So I guess it wasn't you that said in a forum on PSA that you hoped when you put your high flow pipe on it would stop. Your reasoning being that it was the valve in the egr rattling I can screen shot and post a pic if you'd like...

First off, it is "thread on PSA" because the forum is PSA. Like I said, I was hoping that it was something related to the delete of the EGR system that was making a tick since I still had the stock elbow in place. Since then, deleted all that and still have the noise. I knew it was probably valvetrain noise but I was hoping for the best. I guess you didnt catch that. You need to read more, and post less. A screen shot, why not just post the link as that seems like it would be much easier for you haha. :cheer: right back to ya

workin for the ford dealer i would have to say i would own a 6.0 before a 6.4. I have replaced ever bit of 6 engines within a years time on the 6.4 due to them burning out the #7 or #8 piston, They also have issues with there hp fuel pumps. leaking radiator hoses and leaking radiators
Just my opinion

My boss has a 6.4 weve pulled 20k lbs plus with since new. Head gasket, down pipes, radiator, crank bearings then crank seals all before 100k miles went to sh$@. put a hs mini, delete and intake on it at 100k and haven't had a problem since.

I have a 6.4 with 66k on it now that I had to do headstuds becuase of my own doings, but other that just a few minor things its been really good to date

My 08 F450 dually Has 120,000 on it Drives like a dream, Pulls hard as hell when I had the H&S Black Maxx on it ,(that some piece of **** stole it ) Has fabtec 6" lift with 24 " american force wheels fitted with toyo open country 37.5s on them. I love it

My f350 now has 173k on it. The steering box has a little play in it. I honestly didn't really notice it until I started driving my F250 more and more. It has 102k on it. The 350 has had a 300hp tune on it since 108k miles. Even with the miles on it, the truck is solid. I put brakes and shocks on it this summer on general principle.

I'm going to find out how many miles it'll go because with the miles on it, nobody would pay enough for me to cut loose of it. It's hands-down been the best truck I've owned and because it's been so solid, I'm just going to keep it.

Steering box surprises me. Out of all the fords I have not one had a worn steering box. Even the 250,000 mile work truck. My dads 08 has the same miles as mine and he just did ball joint too. I am curious and need to put it on my buds lift.
