Building a 24v p-pump motor without selling a kidney

Stock as in unmodified, there would be no problem using your pistons, just add a little cowbell to them.

I got ya now, they wont be stock, I want to modify them for the application. However I do not know how much to open them up, or shave off the top. I would like to find someone who knows what to do and can do it for me, rather than getting the specs and going down to Joe Blow's Machine Shop and end up with a ruined set of pistons.

The fly cutting specs I'll get from the cam maker. I'm still researching on how much the bowl needs cut, and if I should shave them, or if the bowl work and flycuts will drop the compression a good bit.

Don't shave the top, enlarge the bowl adjacent to the injector you plan to use, and flycut them.

still thinking out loud here...

what about rods? I know all stock rods are not equal, i believe the brazil's are the best? or the ones from england? can they be left alone, or does shot peening or polishing really make a difference?

also, i was under the truck and noticed it has a very tight clearance between the cross member and oil pan? whats the solution there when using a girldle? modify the motor mounts to sit the engine higher?

Remember the more RPM you crank the less torque on the bottom end. Before you purchase the girdle I would put money elsewhere.

i already have the girdle, and i got it for such an amazing price with the 14mm main studs that i couldnt say no.

Not sure on the rods for a 2.8 truck. Couldn't hurt, but I don't know if it would be a 'requirement'.

No real options for the crossmember - modify or remove. I am planning on removing mine, but I will probably run a couple smaller braces in its place. I wouldn't modify to have the engine sit higher. It seems already pretty high when working on #5 and #6.

You're bearings will definitely be happier with the girdle there.

Stock england/brazil/USA rods shot peened. Your getting the whole rotating assembly balanced correct? Dont forget rod bolts, rocker studs, and maybe think about getting your rods machined to oil the wrist pin.

Easy enough, with some of the other stuff we've fabricated for this truck im sure a simple crossmember wont be too bad.

Of the entire engine build process the thing I dread the most is pulling my tansmission yet again...
