Cheating parts.

Anyone checked up under the big center console in some of the gm n dodges. A sizable bottle can fit there. Punch through floor above tranny where it's near impossible to see and run it right up to the back of the engine where it's also real tight quarters and harder to see. Especially in the dark. Use a good progressive controller and use a modest amt to put you just out front most the time n vuala. No big suspicions cause you aren't winning by 20-30ft, near impossible to see n get to during tech n just enough to keep you up top. Certainly don't wanna use so much you're cleaning up all the smoke n dominating every pull by large footage. Then they cry.

I'm just sayin. ;)

Hey Mitch, what class will you be running with your 83 chevrolet when you get it together? Any progress on it lately?

Eric

Probably won't be able to afford but middle-of-the-pack in 2.6 but we'll see. No progress. I suck. :(

Can you run water in your sled tires?

this has got me thinking:bang:bang

Can you run a liquid in your tires to add wight there and would there be an advantage in this as in putting water in your front tires?:poke:

from what we found in my demo derby days is that it is really hard on axle shafts if you get any kind of hoping or something that would cause the tire to get traction then loose it...
it puts alot of rotational momentum on the axle itself. besides the part of water cannot be compressed so you would loose some of your flex in the front tires.

Alright i was just wondering. i know we run calcium in our tractor tires to add weight and traction and didn't know what it would do in a pullin truck.

when you do that, you are talkin a whole different animal, the gearing and power is all different. i would love to see this done in a pulling truck, with lots of pics too. if you do this your tire will most likely remain more solid correct? that defeats the purpose of airing down the front tires.

one more thing. most guys that i have seen pull have hung wieght out over the front as far as the rules will allow. for leverage right? by putting all that weight in the front tires, you are eliminating that leverage. ya follow?

Its hard to get a tire completly full of water. And when it starts spinning at 20-30 mph the water pushes out on the tire and causes alot of "uneven" pressure making it want to hope, bounce, etc...
Great idea in therory and maybe something spinning alot slower.$.02

I have had 33 trxus tires on front full of water-calcium, im not sure how much they weighed but i had to use a floor jack to get them up on the truck. Made it all the way to the track before i backed out and switched tires, i would like to see someone do it.

x2 on someone trying it out to see if it works:rockwoot::rockwoot::rockwoot:

Hell, just run some kind of lead (heavy metal) ring inside the rim. About the same way the explosion resistant run-flat tires are made. You could even run a mercury tube in place to quell vibration and perhaps wheel-hop. ....I mean, you use a harmonic balacer on the crank, right?

I'm pretty sure you would break quite a few front end's running any big quantity of calcium in your front tires. I can't think that it would be that much of an advantage over hanging weight and airing down, tractors really only use it for weight/traction. $.02

I tryed the water in the tire back in the early 90's in a gas altered class and i found that it made the old chevy leaf spring front end wheel hop,BAD!!!. I think what was happining was ,like stated above, you can't get the tire all the way full, so when the tire is going say 30 mph the water starts wiping around. In other words the air pocket doesen't stay at the top of the tire...and you get a BAD unbalence problem!

I have heard that compition rock guys are using lead shot in their tires, now that mite work. I believe weighting the tires well help...unslung weight is better then slung weight, if ya got the axles to take it.:hehe:
