DHRA 2.5 Lets hear it

Sorry I got in on this late...

I agree with Johnboy, and a few others.

The class needs to be 2.5, because chances are that's what 90% of the pullers are going to be running anyway. Everyone that runs in the 2.5 classes everywhere else are not going to change chargers to 2.6 to run a few DHRA pulls. Why not make it 2.5 so you can pull everywhere(as was said before.)

I really don't see the point of 2.6, it will be a small difference in HP, so the crowd won't notice the difference from a 2.5 class, but it will be enough for those trucks that have a 2.6 to put a few ft. on all the 2.5 trucks.

Guys in this class like to hook every weekend. Most are not going to put a 2.6 on just to pull DHRA. They will run a 2.5 and pull every weekend, then maybe pull with the DHRA when they are close to them.

If its 2.5 they will still pull every weekend, and probably DRIVE farther for the DHRA pulls, and chase points. = MORE PARTICIPATION!!

P.S. Hanging weights is a no brainer...$.02

I think Cummins motors should not be able to run turbos to make things fair.

You would think!

I like EEP rules for the 2.5 class. No new classes need added. If no hanging weights, we will be investing in a Road Armor front bumper next year since they seem to sneak past tech.

What is the argument for no hanging weights in WS? I still don't see any reason based on where the class has gone, stock appearing or 2.5 for that matter. If it goes 2.6, we'll just not pull the 2 or 3 we usually attend.

Yes he did. Finished 4th. Got me by 3' at Scheids last year.
He blew what two HX35s, one trans, and a head gasket. He ran real strong at Cynthannia last year also.

To go a whole season at that rate he need a six pack of turbos.:kick:
Holset sell them that way?:hehe: :hehe:

I was actaully bummed when I heard he got rid of the 06.

Brent Bolinger did well at Scheids last year in Qualifying but I think he broke to in the finals. Ended up 9th

He went through more than one tranny! I think he might of went through like 3.:hehe: Believe me, im not taking credit away from the D-Max, but buslengths is hardly the word for what he was describing. And the HX35's are tough SOB's if ya ask me. Mine has been at 40psi quite a few times with no problems. Run that IHI at that, and see if it holds up as good:ft: I dont know what kinda boost Dryden was making, but it must have been a lot to kill them that fast. Probably 50psi or so.

Do I understand you correctly? You won't pull if the class goes .1 larger than what you have?
If so, thats funny, ratch there!!!:hehe:

We used to pull against Dave Mitchell with our daily drivers, feel fortunate there is more than ONE Diesel class, and try to not to nick pick the rules to death.

The truck that won Schieds 07 had a Hx35 with some tweaks and a VP , he went too Shelbyville after geeting another turbo witch he was told to b leagle witch it was by 2.5 but it didnt say holset as they say it needed , so he got bumped to street still got 8th place and broke his driveline

Whoever sold him that turbo, sold it to him for a WS other than DHRA.

To meet our rules, it has to be a Dodge, Ford, Chevy factory turbo, Not Holset, Garret, Scwitzer.

Its what came on the truck. The dealer knew that, he was playing games, and gut BUSTED on it to a tune of 7 trucks, kicked out of the WS class, and 2 in SD, for over rpm.

I feel bad for the customers, but they really ought to read the rules for a pull they are going to, and not listen to a slick salesman.

gene just do EEP rules everyone here in ohio is happy with them. s

That is a problem. Not all the pullers are from Ohio. We have to look at the big picture, a 2.5 guy from Ohio, does not.
If we adopted EEP 2.5 rules, we would be blasted by every other state, for showing them favoritism!

If we go 2.6, we can get away with it, they'll never know! LMAO!! Maybe 2.55 would be enough...I KILL ME!!:hehe:

WS is working nicely, its not leaving.

Hey guys, FORGET 4500 rpm rule in a new class. One class is enough, besides, you can't turn big rpm with these little chargers, and if you do, it doesn't do you any good.

Anything other than WS will have hanging weights.

Forget 8200# House, bean!!!

Motor swaps, ok, 1 ton or smaller.

Adapter plates/flanges will be allowed.

2.5 w bush....2.5 no bush....2.6 no bush.....

Personally I like the 2.6 no bushing.

Thought Id bring this post back up, as some guys still are posting the WS is leaving, it isn't.
We are talking a NEW class, for Street pullers, not stockers, and not 900 hp, look alike Street pullers, but are actually full time pullers.
These should actually be Street Heros, that have the guts too hook to the sled.

And I would really, really appreciate the 2.8 guys NOT dropping down, just because the 2.5 guys are easy to beat.

I have an LB7 for next year so a 2.4 to 2.6 is a big difference. See if anyone pulling with a 2.6 will bump up to 2.8?

What about hanging weights, you didn't respond to that???

Trophy WS, wil be only class without weights.

If thats a stock appearing charger from GM it will be legal in the WS class, or the proposed, 2.5/.6.

Honestly, even if its a 2.5 class, I dont know why anyone would enter with a stock turbo, they will get killed.

Still would like to see open rpm. Scheids to me was a much better show then Indy and the open rpm was a contributing factor. Since you are gonna have a "real" street class again why not require blankets for all SD trucks and just be done with it and no rpm contrevorsey's.

BECAUSER, its what the majority of the pullers, wanted!!!!!!
Until that changes, or the class is dead, we are stuck with it.

The new class will have open rpm.

Ya I know, I was one of the ones that didnt want it back then too. Back then it was the p-pump show with rpms but now pretty much every make is getting good rpm.

well guy's i have sat back on the sidelines all summer watching truckpulls and reading on here how much truck pullers wine .the way i see it is all truck pullers wine if there not winning. so why don't we scrap all the rules and just have a free for all on the track call it open diesel??then all the *****in is done.if you have the money to build a pullin truck then you have the money to blow! so change parts for every state rules or stay a big fish in a little pond!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! because you all will never agree!!!!!!!!

I'll be the first one to agree that a lot of pullers whine like babies when things dont go their way, but thats not just in truck pulling, its in any sort of competition. If somebody has a truck that they pull, it doesnt mean that they have money to blow. It just means that theyd rather put their money into their truck instead of puttin it into some fancy house or a new shiny boat. Theres a large percentage of pullers that pull their trucks that they drive on the street regularly. How fun would it be to go out there in your bone stock street truck and get your donkey handed to ya by a truck with $150,000 worth of mods?

Might sound like a stupid question but does anyone know if a 66mm compressor housing will pass a 2.65 inspection plug?

2.6 is gonna rock!!

At around 37 to 40 psi the IHI goes nulcear the Garret VVTs will handle more but no need. All three Dmax charger make max power aroun 30 to 32 psi. More bost does not mean more power always. I had my IHI to 35 on the dyno and lost power.

Yeah, 32psi is supposed to be about the best for the little HX35. Just saying they are tough turbo's though.

2.6 hhhmmmm...... this would be a class of trucks that can't really compete at 2.8, but the top trucks from 2.5.

That may work out really well, and be an extremely competitive, and fun class to watch.
