DHRA Sled Pulling rule changes

Pat a couple points you make stand out. The 2.5 wasn't a GM thing. It was a way to beat them. How this got put in street is a mystery. You mention Scheid. I think there are more Dodge shops involved than just them.
Can you say Dodge Hot Rod Assoc.?

I would have to say a 2.5 class is not a Dodge class, look at any 2.5 pulling results and the majority will be Dmaxes by far. Heck its even called the dmax class by most.

Guys I just talked to Eric and he says that these are PROPOSED rules. They are looking for feedback on these rules. He said he forgot to put proposed rules in original post and went back to edit it and could not. They are wanting people to contact them and give input.

Looks like there might be hope after all!

These rules are tentative, my 15 minutes had passed before I realized I didn't say that.
With that said, I'm about to leave for Vegas on Wednesday. When I return, I will be getting with our new sled pulling director about the rules and we will make some more decisions. You can email me in the meantime with your suggestions: eric@dhraonline.com

I think there are a lot of people that feel this way.

On a good note, we spoke with some of the ITPA officials and they are willing to listen to a 2.6 turbo class with using the current work stock rules package. They are also considering the removal of the RPM limit and leaving the turbo at 2.8 or possibly going to 3.0 with the same strret diesel rules for last year. The idea would be so the Ohio, KY, and Indiana pullers could all have a place to pull on about any night. We would need to get Danville Performance and maybe Fleece Performance to step up with some sponsorship but at least they are willing to listen.

As far as DHRA, with the current rules, we won't be participating with the street trucks. It appears last year may have been the end of DHRA?:rules:

Do you have some contact info. for the ITPA guys. I would like to talk with the about the proposed 2.6 class. Thanks Ric.

newest update...

2008 (proposed) Rulebook Changes
Version 3.0.1
Date Changed: 10/19/2007

SLED PULLING

WORK STOCK:

Work Stock will be a trophy only class.

Medium Duty Hauler –Removed entirely from rulebook.

Engine- The engine is limited to an OEM make specific compression ignition engine.

Turbocharger- The turbocharger is limited to an OEM make-specific charger only. Turbochargers from different years in the same make may be interchanged.

STREET DIESEL:

Credentials- All drivers must have a valid state driver’s license and DHRA membership.

Engine- The engine block must have been available as a factory option on a one-ton or smaller pickup truck. The use of concrete or other block fillers is prohibited. Electric fans are permitted.

Turbocharger- The vehicle is limited to a single turbocharger; the inducer bore on the compressor housing may be no larger than 2.5 inches measured at the smallest diameter area of the compressor wheel. Bushings and plugs are prohibited.

SUPER STREET: (Former Street Diesel)

Credentials- All drivers must have a valid state driver’s license and DHRA membership.

Engine- The engine block must have been available as a factory option on a one-ton or smaller pickup truck. Blocks must circulate coolant freely. The use of concrete or other block fillers is prohibited. Electric fans are permitted.

Turbocharger- Vehicles are limited to a single turbocharger only; the inducer bore on the compressor housing may be no larger than 2.8 inches measured at the smallest diameter area of the compressor wheel. Bushings and plugs are prohibited.

PRO STREET: (Former Super Street)

Credentials- All drivers must have a valid state driver’s license and DHRA membership.

Fuel Injection Pump- Sigma or 12-cylinder inline injection pumps are prohibited.

Turbocharger- Vehicles are limited to a single turbocharger only; the inducer bore on the compressor housing may be no larger than 3.0 inches measured at the smallest diameter area of the compressor wheel. Bushings and plugs are prohibited.

MODIFIED DIESEL:

Outlaw Diesel Exhibition- Removed entirely from rulebook.

Credentials- All drivers must have a valid state driver’s license and DHRA membership.

Weight Breaks- 7500 lbs. Weight is with driver.

I think this gives everyone a place to pull. As fast as diesel sled pulling is growing everything has to be addressed year to year. If there are enough trucks to fill a 2.5 class on a regular basis then that is fine. Glad to see the 2.8 class go no bushing.
I like this proposal!

Ric id love to see ITPA adapt a 2.6 class but it needs hanging weights allowed

100% agree with House on the ITPA.

Eric,

Those new rules are more like it.

Oops

I didn't put the whole Turbocharger section on the new Super Street (former street diesel) class:

Turbocharger- Vehicles are limited to a single turbocharger only; the inducer bore on the compressor housing may be no larger than 2.8 inches measured at the smallest diameter area of the compressor wheel. Bushings and/or plugs are prohibited. A stock map width enhancement (MWE) groove is allowed. No MWE groove will be allowed that has a width greater than 1/4 inch. All provisions allowing air to the wheel other than via the bore and the MWE groove are prohibited.

Hey Johnboy, you're back on the road again! Seeya!!!

:hehe:

Now I have to switch to Gieco! I need a new turbo as mine is now Illegal. So much for the rules in street staying the same for two years. I like the no bushing rule but both turbos I have need a bushing!:kick: Heck the big one needs bushing to run PRO street.:kick:

As of right now I am in wait and see mode.

The DHRA events are going to have to prove to me that they are worth my time and money to attend. If they are this wishy washy at there events one is all I will make. I can pull a lot around here with the turbos I already have.

LOL I don't think it will be wishy washy once the rules are set. Maybe only my $.02 but we'll see.

I feel for ya John about the turbo. IMO no bushing should have been the rule all along.

The thing that gets me is several DHRA officials at Scheids last year said the rule for 2007 would be set and not change for 2 years. Shows you how big of a joke it really is.

The people you talked to and said the rules wouldnt chage are the ones that left DHRA. And now you can see how the real clowns of DHRA are.

I didnt talk to anyone they had a meeting with all the pullers when it was said. it dosent matter to me if the change from year to year. i agree on the clowns... Im glad to see the personal change myself. I couldnt stand Baby Huey. Eric i think you took a step in the right direction. Once the rules are set and locked i think it will all fall in place.
