Disappointing Numbers with t66, think I need tuning!

IMHO The grey smoke on the big end looks near perfect. A lot thinner than I expected to see w/ your mods.
265/75's & 4:10 gears is not really a good final drive ratio. If you could get up close to a 35'' tall tire (like a 315/75) your effective final would be a lot closer to ideal.
(unless you happen to have a set of 3:54 axles hangin around....;)
On the AFC.. I'd go back to the settings on the first pass & simply slide the box forward to get a little more rack before boost.
Anxious to hear the results with a log manifold, & no other mods.

Agreed on all accounts! BOTW, Nick I probably have 20% of that smoke at full boost!

What did you launch with?

About 25 psi. The streets at my house hold better then the track it seems. The track I was at isn't known for the most sticky nature either especially first runs of the season!

She's gettin there, When I had my first setup on my 01 black 24v It didn't dyno much on a Dynojet in PA only 515hp with the B-1 steroid and Mach 7's but it did manage 12.36 Et

Looks like you were spiking boost pretty good on the line.

Locked in 2nd everytime.

well thats good, you checked for boost leaks and have none correct. and you have no fuel leaks either.

idk know what to say but go bigger with the turbo when funds allow.

Just checked with 25psi of shop air (my boost testing device won't stay on above that) and no leaks. No fuel leaks. I will re-visit this thread upon the manifold switch.

Good thinking on the pre-load screw Weston!

I'm happy man but i'm an addict, GOTTA HAVE MORE lol. Thanks for all your help thus far Brett! I'll get with you when I get the new manifold.

Nice runs Nick. Its clearing up pretty well for the most part. About how it should with the 191's IMO. If you went to lasers it would be pitch black the whole way, but thats not really a good thing.

I think id go with more fuel before i went with more turbo. Its clearing pretty good for a 12 second run, and the only way it is going to get much better is with twins or nitrous IMO.

As for the dyno, im not sure id be real worried about it. I dont think it had your truck loaded real hard. Be nice if you could find a 64/71/14 someone would let you run just to compare with your charger.

Woohoo, come on missing power lol! Won't be able to get it on till the weekend and need to do some minor minor port work. Man, I'm very impressed by the quality work done on this manifold! It's a PDI for those who are asking.

I've put on the turbo sock (the blanket for the turbine housing) and so far i've noticed some quicker spool. I have a manifold blanket which will be going on this pdi manifold too. I will report back with all my findings when done!

BTW, the ports jagged at all like in the above pic. Not sure what happened to the picture when posting it up. Just wanted to point that out.

Nick, I don't think you will see much HP gain if any with the exhaust manifold. If my stock manifold would not have cracked I'd still be using it. Hope it works for you. Thanks Steve B.

Steve, if you go back you'll see that i'm not using a stock or cast manifold, but a header. At this time my thinking, and others, is that the header may be too large for me and my limited rpm motor. Like I said though time will tell:Cheer:

Sorry Nick I didn't realize you were using the header style manifold. Thanks Steve B.

Manifold goes on tomorrow if my mls manifold gaskets show today. Trust me, i'll be reporting in!

Manifold is on. Also put one of Turbo Performance's manifold blankets on with it. Running his turbo sock as well.

Spool from 0-10 is faster with this PDI manfold. EGTs are also higher with the PDI manifold. From 20-40psi or so I think the header was actually quicker in getting the turbo there. Also, the header resulted in lower egts at cruise and part throttle acceleration. One more note, during decelleration with the converter locked this pdi manifold will keep generating boost from the turbo as the motor spins down. Also, exhaust from the stack is shot higher in the air with part throttle with this PDI manifold.

All in all it seems the turbo is driven harder by the pdi manifold but it seems or atleast feels to me that backpressure has increased with this manifold.

My drive pressure gauge is clogged at the moment and the new setup will be put on hopefully later this week. I feel like drive is excessive with the new pdi manifold but I don't think it's because of the manifold by itself, I think this t66 could benefit from gating. I will see what I see when the drive pressure gauge arrives.

Hotter then my temper is becoming with getting this truck to run good numbers lol:p

If I stay in it for a full quarter pass it's a good bit past the 1600 mark on my 0-1600F gauge. There's not really any difference in wot egt's. The cruising egt's are about 100 degrees warmer with this pdi manifold.

I really think the exhaust side of the charger needs to be gated.

At this point i'm 95% sure this is not the same charger at all Matt is running in his truck. It's not a complete dog but I just can't see this thing making enough power to get me into the 11s unless I have some kind of other problem going on. It's not a bad driver and spools pretty well, just not enough air for my needs.
