double overtime

I think there is mreo to it than most people think. I know with the tractors there was. It maybe a different ball game but I got a feling there is a little bit more "driving" of the line than most people realize. Call me crazy though.

Don't get the idea that I'm a rookie. I know very well that it takes good throttle control, and some practice to drive a vehicle with an engine set up like the top class pullers use.

What I am saying however, is that most, if not all of that throttle work, is generally performed before the vehicle ever moves.

I'm no newbie.. My Night Life used to be Barely Getting By. Got family who still live it that way.

Hey Corey.. hows the progress. Maybe after the first of the year me and J-Rod can make a trip up to visit.

I'm not exactly a rookie either, I'm just saying there is alot more to it than some people that, may be not you but some.

I know this season our tractor "Just-in Case" had a really hard time and Indiana, PA pull because of traction. We had one side let loose, Art tapped the brake the other side broke loose and was like that all the way down the track. We had a better pull in Limited Pro than Chris Hoyt did in Pro stock. I have been taught power is one thing, but if you got a proper setup, good power, and good driving along with track reading skills, its better than jsut balls to the walls.

Although, I can't speak completely for trucks on this subject either. I know Nathan and Cory along with Dan have helped me out tremedously but I still have nto piloted on of these trucks down the track and won't make a concrete commet about it until I do, I just figured there is a little more to it only form what Dan, Kent, Cory and others have told me.

I've been fortunate enough to have been around Pro-Stock tractors most of my life. Corey knows, or knows of the guys I've helped. I've not actually driven one... but I've watched it extensively. I've got a pretty good idea of what needs to be done... just never had the chance to give it a try.

I'm not trying to bust your chops Aaron, but helping in the pits and watching it is way different than leaving the line with one of those monster powered units. I drove a friend of mine's truck that is set up close to a mod truck. It has a hand throttle and a crazy clutch, it was nuts getting it off the line without making myself look like an idiot! LOL

I still remember when Toby Glass are mechanic that had been to every pull and could read a track better then anyone and knew the tractor inside and out wanted to drive it..... needless to say he literally pissed his pants and was out of by 100ft and had it parked sideways..... I've watched tons of planes fly.... does it mean i can fly one????

Easy now guys.. I never said I could do it.. haven't set in the seat to find out. I'd love the chance though.

What I said, is I've watched it enough to understand the mechanics of what needs to be done... I'm not even sure I can apply them, but I understand them.

And I have watched thousands of hours of football (By the way Cory LSU is gonna rock OS!!!! HAHAHA Just kidding) but that doesn't mean I could play in the pros. I have sat behind the seat of the tractors and know what it is like. It wasn't every weekend as our teammates switched from race to race since the tractor was a team effort but I did get seat time. Its not as easy as these guys make it look. I am also not including myself with them because I also believe I have a long way to go. But I have also talked with Dan and Cory and them extensively and do understand it is much different. Look at Cory, he is a good example, he started off with tractors and now he is at trucks. He knows the differences and agrees it ain't as easy as it looks. Just because my sister watches gray's anatomy don't mean she could perform brain surgery (god forbid she did cause then I would be really screwed up) Sometimes things just aren't as they seem.

Ya but can me and ur sis still play doctor?????:hehe:

Ive made alot of hooks with an under powered truck. one would think you can get it to run the same everytime but i have yet to have 2 runs come close to each other. u can put 5 different drivers in the same truck on the same track and get 5 totally different runs.

Bens truck is gonna be awesome next year.

Guys.. read my last post again.

I agree with you. It's not as easy as it looks.

What I've said is this.. I've watched and studied it for more years than some of you have been around Diesel trucks, or diesel period. If I remember right, I'm around 10 years older than Corey.. and was around pulling before I was 10.

Corey.. I have family that still pulls who won an NTPA SS championship in 73.. the year I was born. They also have and Indy Super Pull to their credit.

My younger brother is the crew chief for two, and part time driver for one Champion winning PS tractors. Both of these tractors has won at least one night at NFMS.. and one was a Sat night winner. I'm originally from the Seymour IN area... and Tampico was my hometown pull.. you guys figure it out from there.

I've crewed on, built, and driven MFWD (Modified Four Wheel Drive) trucks for the last several years. Originally started that for Tom Tormoehlen, at TFS Performance (yeah.. the guys that built the Double Overtime engine). A job and geographic change meant that I left there, and started helping Galen Young. There is a new "Renegade" 90% ready to run.. and it will be out when the new trailer is finished.

I don't know if I could actually do it or not. I've been around tractors, trucks, and heavy equipment most of my life. I've always been able to watch a good operator, understand how things worked, and with a little practice do it. Not at the top skill level starting.. but that takes practice.

I've also made some passes down the track... in a 1000+ hp purpose built pulling truck (although it was a "gasser").

I'd love the chance to find out if I really can pull it off. Unfortunately for me.. my budget doesn't allow that, so for now.. I've just gotta dream.

That your sister in your avatar........? LOL

No, not my sister. She wouldn't get around my truck, let alone anyone else's truck so its definately not her but I will be with the girl in the picture for new years.... What a joyous night!:rockwoot: :evil
