Rumors been going around that the reason the Redline box pops crackles above 4k rpm is because the ecm cuts power to the fuel system. At 4130 RPM my truck crackles & pops with the Redline box [any setting]. I noticed that when this happens, my fuel gauge bounces off of zero psi. I decided to run direct power to my Airdog on a toggle switch so it can't lose pressure. I tried multiple settings & noticed that the truck seems to want to runaway between 4k rpm- 4200+. It now gets to 4260rpm before it pops/crackles. I figure 100rpm was worth my time. I only tried a few settings, but I think it has more left to it.

Very interesting. And such a simple test, I'm amazed you are the first to try it.

Wow, and its KILLING the VP by cutting fuel supply, especially at that high RPM. Nice find!

You are still limited to the ability of your vp pump. I just want to get the Redline to pull to 4300rpm like the Adrenaline & I'll be happy. If anyone wants to try this, I noticed that my truck seems to rev further with highest timing/Duration settings. I ran 100% fueling on Redline/ Adr timing 10 PL01, Smarty sw9 timing 4 Duration 6.

To verify this put a test light on the supply to the factory lift pump.

so explain this my the airdog on my truck still runs off the factory relay but will set and hold 4130rpms with missing a beat (sounds good) look at all my videos im taking it up to 4130 and holding it there for a few seconds before coming off the line.

I had my Aeromotive wired into the factory lift pump plug to power the relay for the Aero pump. After I got my 5k gov springs in I noticed my fuel pressure was dropping to zero in the higher rpms. The ecm was cutting power to the fuel pump at around 4100-4200 rpms. After that I just wired the relay up to a switch power source so it comes on with the key.

Did yall come to any conclusions from it or did you just do it and abandon the VP for the CR?:poke:

I am still trying to figure out what dodge owners used to pull their trailers around with before 1998.5

Apparently p-pumps are unable to be used for towing whatsoever according to everyone on this site.

Jamie tows HEAVY...

I wouldn't want to tow what he does with a hot P-Pump and a big single.

I tow with my inline pump almost every day:D

I'm not saying it's impossible.

But would you want to tow 20k with your truck? Regularly, for work?
