Fat Trucks- Who has a truck that wieghs 8k+ and pulls or wants too?

Imo I had to work to get my truck up to 8000lbs. WHY cant people with the mega cabs and Dwrs work to get there trucks down to 8000lbs
Just like eating. it's easier to gain than to lose.

True but still very capable of making 8000. Unless there were say... 3-4 for sure each week. Noway i would change it

I can usually get to 8000 but if we get the occasional heavy scale which is about 150-200lbs off about 50% of the events (I run Both Stock/Enhanced and Open Unlimited) I have to leave the Fair Fries in the pits ....

Oh I know I can do it but ***** cause its a pain. If I had to pull 8k every weekend I would probly be forced to make this one a pull only truck or get a lighter one.

I like this subject, everyone gets all touchy over the wieght issue.

Realitivaly stock Mega Dually, with stuff in the back seat and bed was right at 8K. Friends Mega SRW with twins, 35s, stereo, blah blah blah, 8500K......Make your bed now sleep in it....
IMO "stock" or "work stock" should be the weight of the truck from the factory, UNALTERED. No hanging weight no extra in the bed, just stock...
The new dually F350-450s with the 19.5s are a SOLID 9500K WITHOUT mods.....

All arguments aside the new trucks from Ford and Dodge are getting heavier and close to the 8000 mark with no weight hanging.

Eventually a general weight rule will have to be changed to accommodate.

Not everyone pulls a 7000lb 2nd gen Dodge where you can hang 8 suitcase weights on a bad day.

I strip my truck down and can only hang 3 weights on a good day. Thats no tailgate, no spare, no back seat and no fuel.

Perfect example. "I STRIP my LONG wheelbase advantage truck SO I can HANG weight."

BEAN!!!!!! Justin just pile drove your argument.:owned: :thankyou2: :thankyou2: :thankyou2:

Sleddy go back under your rock you have no fatty in this fight. :shake:

I didnt really mean for this thread to be an argument about wieght only to see what other Fattys are out there wanting to pull. Only way we can get any rule changes is to speak up and with #'s.

I dont even care if we get anything over 8000#'s, what I want is some reassurance I dont strip my truck down for national event travel hundreds of miles only to be DQed for being 50#'s over wieght for whatever reason. Just some kind of pad there and only for any truck NOT hanging wieghts, if you hang wieghts you better make the wieght limit or under.

I cant make 8k i was over at every pull last year, thats no tail gate, no back seat, no carpet, no stero, one battery, 2 gallons of fuel and still 20-40 over. then had to resemble it the next day or at the pull a total pain in the arse. 8500 i think is too much 8200 would be fine. Like as mentioned light trucks do not have to add more weight if they dont want to. Yes I bought a dodge just to pull next year to make weight, but its not gona happen now its the biggest pile of crap i ever drove, drives like poo and stops like poo and everything is new, there for dodge is for sale and ford is back! Needless to say if nothing is done to increase weight to let let everyone play might as well make it gasser style 158'' wheel base and 7500lbs then.

But our modifing the rules to fit your truck.. or the minority.. In a class were you can't add weight.. you'll be right at the limit.. but the other will be 500 shy... or adding homemade front bumpers made of lead.. Maybe can add weight.. but no front hanging weights..
Our truck weighs 6200lbs.. and some in our area want to go heavier than 8500lbs..

my truck, your truck who evers truck that why I made the thread- who else has this issue I know I am not the only one.

I really dont think 8500 is needed, would be nice cause I wouldnt have to strip anything but not needed- 9000 would be insane.

if there was a wieght break for like 50#'s if there was no hanging ballast would you then invest in a heavy bumper and lead wieghts just to pick up the extra 50#'s? Would that 50 do you any better then a wieght bracket thats further out? I have heard this argument and think that if a lightwieght guy wants to be "smart" and go through all of that trouble just to gain an extra 50-100#'s then LET HIM cause he is a moron.

k bean here is what i have to do to make 8k i am a second gen quad cab dualy i have to take out my back seat passanger seat tailgate spare andrun with my fuel light on i do not have any driveshaft loops blankets or any more safety equipment that some pulling assocations require you to have i pull here in the idaho and utah area i would like to see the weight limit set at 8200# i have even tried weightloss programs so i could make weight and belive me slimfast is a crock of ......

Any one know roughly what 3rd gen QC LB Dually 4x4 weights stock? THe organization I run in (KOTTPA) has 2 classes. a 2.5 street and 3.0single/ 2.8bottom twins super street class. Both are at 8500lbs. Come up and run with us Bean. We will let you in. I am sure the crowd will be pretty impressed with your rig anyways. Not alot of cummins conversion trucks up here in KY.

but with the long wheel base you are hanging weight ,you just don't realize it. I had a couple old timer gas guys telling me that for every inch in wheelbase it is like hanging another 100lbs. that is why the have rules for stock engine location since guys would slide the motor ahead a inch or two just for the forward weight.

Maybe you should put the Slim Fast in the fuel tank?

Smokin rod had a good point, I can't believe its that much, though. Im sure it could be figured out, who is the mathematician on this site? Maybe the long trucks should be taking off 500 pounds.

Overheard at the gasser scale on a muddy day: "You are right on, 6200#."

Puller:" How much are you allowing for mud on the tires?"

"20#, but you are dead on, anyway."

Puller:"Hold on while I get another 20#.":hehe:

True story, illustrates the extremes pullers will go to for that miniscule, non existent advavantage.

Sounds like you need a Dodge mechanic, that knows how to put the parts on!!
my 97 always drove just good enough to put 100 feet on you House!!!lol, I'll buy it,send me some pictures.
As far as stopping, Im fairly certain the sled will slow you down enough, that you can drag your feet to stop.

Here's an idea for the "fatty" trucks; for evey 100# over you loose 1" of hitch hight so a 8500# truck would run a 21" hitch insted of 26" In a street class that would alow almost any one to pull and not give the heavy trucks the advantage.

That I am not all opposed to either since it would still allow me to run if somehow I was over.

I made sure our local rules for this year was 8500#'s so I am good local. Just when I travel to national events is what I am worried about.

Workstock should be 8500 lbs. You get into the 2.6 class and it is a competition class, with trucks built to the class. I have already been crucified for mentioning the handicap rule. I mentioned it cause there are several times a year we have 4 trucks hooking in the diesel class.
