If you don't already have one, you're going to need a body lift. The frame crossmember forces the engine to be up pretty high and the cummins is a tall engine.
 
The 4bt will fit just fine. Im putting a 6bt in my 87 ranger it a little more work but can be done.
 
I dont think I will get a body lift if i need to do any thing Ill put a cowl hood on the ranger i will run a small suspension lift on it so i can run a bit bigger tire to go with the bigger axles
