Has anyone ever had their engine lock up on them?

cracked cylinder wall...... filled piston with coolant and locked it up.... just got done building a motor for an 03 that dropped a valve seat and cracked #2 wall into the coolant jacket.....

I wasn't thinking of oil being bad, I was thinking of it being kept suspended in the engine starving the pump. If the oil was a bit low, at those engine speeds it's hard to say. There usually isn't that much in the pan when you are running. Maybe 2 or 3 quarts.

You may have a oil pump going bad too. But I am sure, since you are in there, you'll put a new one in.

Now you have a project in the diesel class.

This thing is going nowhere near school. Some of these total DUMBA$$ES that are here have NO mechanical ability whatsoever and should not have even picked the profession that they did.
This will be done on the weekends when i am home by myself with my money.
Some of the peeps at school i dont even want to lend a screwdriver to because they dont know the proper was to use or what they are doing.

ANyways... it is just weird that it ran low on oil because as said.. when this started.. i was going 45mph in overdrive. So, high rpm was not there.

I guess she just decided that it was her time for a makeover. lol

I agree. It was it's time. Many times that is what happens. Pressures change at different speeds. So at the higher speeds, the damage was done and then at the lower speeds it decided to roll over. It happens. It's just too bad it happened.

I was only speculating anyway. One can only guess from the pictures. . .

talked to a guy that builds extreme horsepower gas engines for outlaw 10.5 people and he said that they had to have been just cheap bearings from the get go. So the shop (im not naming any names) that built this engine may have used some old cheap bearings or something or they were not clearanced right. ONly guess i got.
