HE351 swap onto my 12 valve

It's not about controlling the boost, the 50mm gate does that fine. It's trying to lower the drive pressure some before the wastegate actually opens.

Here are a few pics of the intercooler tube setup. I need to redo it, I was in a hurry to make it so I could get home for spring break. No one had any mandrel bend 3" in town, or a mandrel bender, and it would have taken over a week to get some ordered in so I had some bent regular style and pieced it together.

your right...that isnt pretty

lol

but it worked right?

bet when you get it all done up right she gets a lot more air

a lot sooner too

i could tell the difference just replacing the stock elbow (on the intake plate) with a free flowing one

How tight a radius has anyone seen 3" in a mandrel bend? It's gotta be pretty tight. This stuff was maybe a 3-4" radius and it barely worked.

does anyone know if the compressor wheel in the 351 is bigger than the HX35?

maybe you could put just the wheel in the 35? would it fit?

Yes it is bigger, 60mm inducer on my 351 vs. 54mm inducer for the 35. HTT makes 60mm compressor upgrades for the HX35.

I know, but there are cheeeeeep comp wheels and covers on ebay. will the front cover fit on an HX35?

You can probably get the stock hx35 cover machined to fit the HE351 compressor wheel, then you wouldn't have to mess with new coldpipe plumbing since the outlet would be stock.

the he351 is a 60/60/9
hx35 is a 54/58/12

dont think that the compressor wheel from an he351 would be a direct replacement

well im going to give it a whirl. anyone have an extra HX40 front cover laying around???

I don't see why... the money is in the setup time labor... not in the amount of aluminum shavings left on the floor aftewards

I can sell you an HX40 compressor housing that uses a smaller wheel than a your HX35.

have the compressor machined to match the wheel IMO

The HE351 is actually a 60/58/9.
The body of my HE351, HE341, and HX35 all appear identical, which leads me to believe the shafts are the same size. It also makes me wonder what it would take to get the 12 cm exhaust housing off of my HX and make it work on my 351.......
