Hellmann tank sump

When you put the sump in the tank, wouldn't you want the fuel line to exit towards the rear of the vehicle, and then loop around towards the front?

So that under acceleration, the pump doesn't have to fight the inertia of the fuel?

Or is that entirely hoo-doo?

I thought about that, but I think it's not necesary as the sump is as far to the rear of tank as it can go already. If I run it down that low I deserve to run it dry :)

what are the stock tank baffles for?

is the sending unit inside the baffled area?

did you consider installing the sump there?

and why didnt you go with steel braided line from the sump to the pump?

i seen the 3 pc AN fitting in the one pic so thats what i thought you were gonna do...

I didn't touch the stock tank baffles there still in place.

The stock sending unit is in the stock location in the stock tank sump I didn't mess with it either.

the front half of the tank starts to slope upwards so I installed the sump in the flatest part of the rear half of the tank.

I was going to go with some spare Aroquip hose and AN fittings I had laying around here but I didn't have enough hose so I just installed the hose that came with the AirDog, no additional cost that way more money for the puller :)

All though I think it would look pretty trick if you used the black powder coated sump, some stainless aroquip hose, and the black AN fittings.

their straight fittings are fine but have you noticed how small the id is on their 90° fittings?

and your set up looks fine - is that why you run steel braid on the puller? cuz it looks cool? lol

i like the braided cloth line for jobs like this. dont have to worry about it rubbin its way thru anything but its a lot more durable than that blue stuff

good job tho - i like it

There ya go, the black cloth Auroquip stuff would blend in nicley almost stelth like :)

Ok here is a question why could you not plum the return into the sump??/ That way if have it on your DD and happen to do a little off roading it wont suck air as soon as your going down hill. This is my only concern. Looks like it would give you a little more room for going down or up hill a little longer.

If he added another...or maybe it is just missing...Scott would have one per cylinder...a 1/2" line per...lol

If one were to use longer bolts with the sump kit, the foam might stay within a certain area, depending on it's placement ...........no?

FYI; The largest piece of foam (6x4x14) is 336 cu in; there are 231 cu in per gallon.

What size fitting is used with the sump?

BBD how are u likein the sump in the rear of tank? Have u had any probs when sitting on down hill slope?

around here the tweakers would have a field day with this. Cut the hose and fill the juggs.

Question-- how did you guys clean the shavings out of the tank?

Yeah, I was worried about using push lock tubing that can get easily sliced by foreign objects or a hater. Good luck cutting through braided steel!
