Ok first of all please p pump 24v guys only and please be honest!! Just wanting to know how easy your truck starts? Before when i was running the vp i could simply jump in the truck turn the key and within a matter of a second the truck would be running without any throttle input after switching over to the p pump i now have to give it quite a bit of throttle input while cranking and then feather it for a second or two to keep it running. Been like that since day one. Its the one thing i cannot stand about my truck right now. Seth at DPE believes he can solve this problem for me so i think the pump will come off and go to him. Also one note injectors have not been touched still at vp pop offs. Might try lowering them some to see if that helps. But list your set up...injectors, what springs, pop off psi is...etc. Im currently running DDP250s, 5k springs, vp pop off psi. Thanks guys!...oh and post a video if ya got one.

I just tap the throttle on start up and it fires instantly. Otherwise it takes a revolution or two. That was with my injectors at VP pop offs and ppump pop offs. I'm running 24* of timing, 7x.012 at 250 bar, 4k kit.

Seth benched my pump and its ****ing fabulous. I highly recommend him doing it. He set my injectors, benched the pump, and pin timed it for under $400.

mine was the same as Tylers only with Mach7's and 30* timing, 5k's and VP pop-offs and a benched CDS pump

Yea right now my truck wont even start without hitting the throttle. It will just sit there and crank over forever, it makes starting on a little or slope a pain since i have a manual. Pump will be going to Seth for sure...already talked to him about this. Just was looking to hear what some of your guys trucks start up like.

I have tried messing the idle Dan with the same results no matter where its set at. Currently idles around 700-750 or so. Did the same thing when it was 850-900 perhaps just a shade better.

Mine starts great, DDP comps lowered for swap, 913 pump,4k springs, cut 181's, 23*. It starts just fine in descent weather I dont even have to bump the throttle. If it is could a few bumps on the throttle helps out alot. I have a few vids, here is one with a start up but don't laugh it was for my for sale ad lol. The 2nd and 3rd vids are with the old 175hp pump. The 3rd vid is the very first start-up after the swap.

with my last pump (schied 12mm pump) it required a little throttle input to get it started, but no issues once you hit the pedal. If you didn't hit it, it would crank for 4 or 5 seconds to start.

Now with the 13mm pump it is sometimes a challenge to get it started without ether...

Leave the injectors at vp pressure.

I know it's not a 24v but, the 12v with a 180 pump I put in my dually behaves the exact same way.

My setup used to fire right off, unless I had the timing up. Current setup earlier this season, I could spray 1/2 second of ether on the filter and go around and hit it and it would take off, I did some work on the AFC to limit low end fueling and it pretty much needs ether while your cranking to get it to go now. I haven't messed with it lately, I just lightly give it a little ether and it goes.

My point is when I pulled the AFC back further it appeared to change the starting characteristics.

Original setup was stock 215 pump with 4k's, 15 degrees timing, DDP 150's and it would fire up on about the first or second rev without throttle input. Stayed that way with the DDP 250's and 23 degrees timing.

Had a benched 12mm pump that was never right, always needed throttle input to start. Would crank forever if I didn't. Never changed with different gov. springs and settings.

Onto the 13mm, its a bit of a bear to start cold, but I think I have a leak on the hi pressure side. Waiting on new injectors to verify. Once it was started once that day, it would light up on its own without throttle input.

Mine starts fine with either pump, even after sitting for a week. I usually open the door and start it without getting in and then clean the windshield before leaving so no, it doesn't require manipulating the throttle. It does idle a bit smoother with the Exergy Engineering injectors.

250 hp injectors set to p-pump psi, 4000 gov, timing at 24 degrees, 120 injcetor lines. starts right up. no delay in cranking. i couldn't be more happy

mine was a pain to start. i went 2clicks out on the springs bumped the idle back up, now it fires right up. i did notice the throttle is ridiculously touchey now. its a pain to drive on bumpy roads.

I have the same problem as you Yoshi. If i try and start it (cold, one night of sitting, or more) it takes several seconds to fire up, pushing the throttle up and down. What I noticed that helps is bumping the starter and letting it cycle for 3 or 4 seconds, and while its still cycling, I try and start it. 9 out of 10 times, it fires instantly. I haven't had any cold mornings here yet to see if that makes a difference vs warm temps. 4k gsk and 18.5* timing, mach 1.5's on vp settings...

58º Ambient tempature, stock 913 pump, 18º Timing, .074 lines/stock tubes, DDP 200 injectors with the opening pressure lowered to 285 bar. No Throttle Input.

Heck mine still starts with the remote start button!

Goff benched 180, 4k springs, #6 plate and afc full forward, 18.5* of timing, 100hp injectors at vp pop, fed with ad150 40psi,.084 lines with factory crossover tubes, idels at about 525 and i have to give it a little tap or let it turn over about 2 seconds cold or warm. winter or summer. if i turned the idel up it would probably start with no input...ill try that sometime this week.

29* this morning and I had to hold the starter to keep the engine going so it could build some heat up in the cylinders and maintain idle on its own. I gotta plug this truck in tonight.
