My bet also is on a slightly bent rod compounded by some wiped bearings from the coolant. I guess you didn't check piston protrusion when you had the head off? Like has been said, the powdered metal CR rods, while very strong if straight, don't take kindly to bending!! They shatter and become a swinging poker on the crank!! The forged 12V rods will merely bend not taking out the whole block.

Yeah, I'm starting to beleive that some / all of my power loss issues may have been due to a bent rod too....and the coolant just took it over the edge and let go..

No, didn't check protrusion....wished I had though....I'm still learning about all this stuff...I didn't even think about it .....:bang

Those are good!!!!

My window in more horizontal than yours.....I can see about 5-6 cam lobes and tappets and the rod hangin out just in front of all that....Plus some cracks towards the rear...


Any chance this damaged my Head, valves, push tubes, ect.....?????

You won't know untill you tear it down. Could have bent some valves/push rods depending on what the piston did once the rod let go. You will want to have the head checked and a valve job done anyway.

By the way, the cam should be pasing right through the center of that hole you see in that picture:hehe: But it got turned into one of those new special 2 piece cams! LOL

More like this? I'll be interested to see what the your rod bearing looks like on the offending cylinder.... (actually all the bearings) mine was scuffed a little from the pounding it took bashing the cylinder wall out, but still in great shape.

I have 2 holes like that,, just a little bigger. One on either side of the block.. on the drivers side where the cam was,,, it is now about a 32 piece cam,, LOL,, I hope to start pulling it apart tomorrow...
 
Well I guess I haven't been keeping up too good with this catching me by surprize. This has got to be very stressfull after all the work and money spent. I don't care to see anyone having luck like this. Just let me know what I can do.
