II Phatshaft 71

I have one. Just waiting for the rest of the parts so I can actually bolt it up at take it for a spin.:charger:

A friend of mine has a heavily fueled pulling truck, and he couldnt spool that thing when he was hooked to the sled. I think it is too big a charger, personally, just my opinion

better have a really loose converter and LOTS of fuel on tap to spool that bad boy

It shouldnt be that bad. Especially not on a 3rd gen. Its got a .83 AR wastegated housing on it. I sent my K31 to Industrial to have it upgraded. They shipped it out today so it will be here sometime next week.

Id say its pretty much identical. I think the A5k has a .80 housing on it maybe. Not for sure but for some reason i want to think it does. The A5K was designed off of the K31 correct?

yeah, from what I understand, it has a different exhaust housing from ATS

I run a 71 on my 6.0 and its actually streetable. I run a 2500 convertor with big sticks tho.

I tested this turbo on my 04.5 Dodge truck. It has very good street manners. Spools quick for a turbo this size. We do make some K31 turbos with a 1.10 A/R housing. That turbo did spool up slower. We made that version for sled pullers with bigger fuel and higher rpm. That guarded against eccessive turbo rpm. With the new wastegated housing you get good spoolup and the wastegate keeps the turbine rpm from overspinning causing turbo failure. The kit comes with new intake, cold pipe to the air to air, large flange ATS manifold and down pipe. If you already have some or most of these items we can adjust the kit to suite your needs. The turbine housing is a .83 A/R large dual wastegated housing with the large mounting flange. We can still make the other versions as before but this one works the best as our testing has shown. Thanks

You may want to go to our web site and nose around. We have pictures of the turbo and kit. We also have pictures of a external gate with a spacer housing we use for non wastegated larger turbos like our Mega Shaft Turbo. etc. Thanks

I e-mailed industrial about this turbo ,, The person there who replyed back runs this turbo on his daily driver..

Looks like an awsome turbo ..

the friend I was referring to had a Common Rail sledpulling truck, and he didnt like it.

could Wade spool it? I think not

and it is way overpriced too

Wade did not have this turbo! Wade had a Mega Shaft turbo and he could have spooled it if he would have followed through with the rest of the plan that he decided to bail on. He said to me that he wanted a everyday driver instead of going for a full on drag truck. (Bigger hp). He changed his mind about building that truck. He sold the truck. He now has a Dragster that he is building with a Phat Shaft 71. Charley Stewart is using a Mega Shaft on the Predator Truck and also another dragster that he is building. He told me that the Mega Shaft turbo on those dragsters spooled very quick with that amount of fueling etc.

I have tested the Phat Shaft 71 on my 04.5 Dodge. It spools very good for that size of turbo. It does make hp and I have put Dual Fuelers on my truck. I was running 10 hole injectors at that time. My fuel mileage was fantastic 20-22 mpg. I now have switched back to Stage 3 injectors and my fuel mileage is back to 15-18 mpg. I bought a new Toy Hauler Trailer (Fifth Wheel). Heavy trailer with triple axles. Towing twins are now going on so that I can tow slower if I want. I miss my fuel mileage so I am going back to 10 hole nozzles.

I have tested every K31/71mm turbo that we make. They all have their place. This new wastegated .83 A/R version is a turbo that drives very good everyday. The reason no one has made it before is because the turbine housing is a OEM only (Protected as they own the tooling) housing. We received 100 housings to make these turbos because we got permission to use them for this turbo only. It can,t be used in the OEM turbo that it was designed for.

The Kit is a little spendy but you get new intake system, new manifold (Large Foot) New discharge pipe (Cold Pipe), Exhaust down pipe (Stainless Steel) and new oil drain pipe fitting oil supply line etc. Like I said if you don't need all of these items we will reduce the price. There is a group buy going on right now that would include this kit. Performance Diesel Warehouse is running the group buy. (Cory)
