II Phatshaft 71

Unless your needing the .83 wastegated housing, what is so special about this charger?

Does I.I. have any tricks to help the spoolup?

They have pretty much already done everything to help it out. Otherwise a standard K31 could be bought cheaper im sure.

If you are running much fuel at all I think the PS71 will be fine. It spools real good as long as you arent lugging it.

I think that k31 has like a 1.15 or larger a/r. It would work well for a set of twins, but not for a single, unless your planning on big rpm. The k31 doesn't have as big of shaft as the s400. The smaller shaft allows the k31 to spool a little quicker. The s400's in the right configuration, make a very nice pulling charger. You need some RPM to get it lit, which can be a challenge for an automatic.

The Phat Shaft 71 is one bad turbo. I daily drive it,drag race it and sled pull ocasionally. I can only speak from my personal experience with this turbo.
I have time slips and dyno sheets to back up all my info.
II makes awesome products and this is all I recomend to all my friends that want to make there truck go fast.
Anyone can PM if you have a question and dont want to post it.

My II K31 will be in this next week hopefully. I have been dealing with Dominator Performance Diesel , and they say that the K31 will be great as a single. Talked to Brett at II and he says so too. The key is the RPMS. I think the 5gsk is just the ticket!:rockwoot:

I don't think the a 12V will like the k31 as a single for street use. For sledpulling it would be ok, but why the extra coin for it, when you can get an s400 for almost half the cost, that will work very well. Now if you go the wastegate version of the II71 that is different. The .83 or whatever it is that is a wastegated housing would rock on a 3rd gen. Unless you have a high stall convertor from DTT I don't think you will get the charger to light. The 12V's are a little more difficult than the common rails, those things will light anything.
Non wastegated II charger

.83 Wastegated is the one I have. I'm glad I have a manual. I bet it would awesome on my 04 too.

Yea the .83 would be a good unit and worth it, the non wastegated I think there are better options.

I dont have the DTT converter as of last week. I have a triple disc now from ITW in idaho falls with about a 1600-1800 rpm stall (cant remember). I think it will work.

its non wastegated too I believe. Ill have to go out to the shop to see for sure, but I dont think it is
