It lives!!!!!

took a drive tonight after rigging up a temp spring to simmer down the touchyness of the pedal...thought i had big trouble.

first it sounded like i had a fully automatic rifle going off behind my head, then i looked back and couldn't see **** for the white smoke...i can only imagine where my timing is right now...but i will know where it is set on sunday, and then its time to drive it and see how it acts for real. :D

Gonna get us a vid of the ride TJ?

no video of that...i only went down the driveway to see if it was still impossible to drive and when it wasnt i said hell lets head to the local school and turn around, its only a half mile...turned around and pulled out of the school...blocked the road with white smoke and had no clue what the hell was going on. took me 5 minutes to go a half mile and up the driveway!

If I would have known that he was going up the street I would have went with him. I do have video of going to 4k+ though. Going to edit tomorrow hopefully and post the link.

Awesome!!! I'd love to see a dyno vid. Thats what I'm talking about!:rockwoot: What you think it should put down? You've gotta be in the 600's I'd say?

While you got the dash apart unplug all the cel lights if thats how they connect.

yea its all stupid stuff...the CEL is on becuase of the swap...the 4wd light stays on because my CAD is locked all the time ever since the 271 t-case swap, my fuel light is on because my sender has not worked in 2 years, i use an autometer gauge instead. my low wash light is on because i never put fluid back in the tank after i put the radiator in, and my seat belt light never goes out cuz i only wear it while i am hooked to a sled

if too many more light up your gonna have to put the alternator on a toggle so it isnt taking horsepower away keeping them lit:hehe::hehe::hehe:

Sucks that the timing slipped. Happened to mine once and it sounded like a cannon goin off LOL , and white smoke a plenty. We pulled it back in the shop and proceeded to set the timing again. Sprayed plenty of brake clean on the pump shaft, cleaned it as good as possible, set the timing and torqued to 150. Just curious, how many ft. lbs. did you torque it to? I know of a few that go 200ft. lbs. and have no issues.

i took it to 140 which is what the timing instructions my buddy had said.

we figured it out why it slipped tho, it was a combo of two things-

1. i had the pump on and off a dozen times when i was mocking things up, test fitting stuff etc. and with the timing cover off it was real easy to grab the shaft from the front and help pull the pump into place, meaning there was probably residual grease on on there from my dirty hands

2. after we had the timing set I had realized i forgot the bolt for the pump support bracket on the bottom of the pump. it wouldn't line up so in order to get it in i loosened the 4 nuts on the pump and we had to kinda pry/wiggle on the pump til the bolt started, almost guarantee this was enough to start to break the gear loose on the shaft and we never retorqued the shaft nut after tweaking ont he pump.
