Itpa 2.6 ****2010****

Looking forward to Muncie again, hopefully I do as good there this year as I did last year so I can get a run at Indy.

Id love to run 2.6 but I have to get another truck to tow with before I can go much bigger on the charger I got the trailer now just no tow rig and Im pretty sure with a 62/71 Im not going to be top 5

Guys,

Let me attempt to answer a couple questions. 1. The 2.6 class did prove themselves last year and will have the same payout as the other classes instead of 50%. 2. I am and will continue to promote the class as I think it is a great class with potential. 3. As JT said, we just had the board meeting this past Saturday and got the sanction fees set for 2010 so I didn't want to book any pulls until after that was set. As of today letters have been mailed out to all the locations we pulled at in 2009 and when I have a firm idea of the schedule I will update the website, but I will say that 2.6 and 2.8's are scheduled to be at Marion this year so that's a start for the northern crowd lol. 4. NADM, well I just took over as president of ITPA so I don't know about any prior discussions of joining NADM, but I will say that I am all for class rules that allow our trucks to compete elsewhere and allows others to compete with us. So if partnering with NADM is benefical to them, ITPA and our pullers, then I am more than willing to listen and promote it to our board and the association.

Any other questions, ask JT, or post them here or email me at alanpage@indianatruckpullers.net and we will do our best to answer them.

Turbo rule is the only problem...

If you guys adopt NADM 2.6 rules, and become affiliate members we'll see what we can do about your purses..and, winners of your pulls will qualify for Indy in September.

Gene, I agree that have same rules would help everyone out but your turbo rule is technically the only thing we do not agree on and it is a HUGE deal. As your turbo rule reads, 2.6 charger measured with a 2.65" plug, no bushing down allowed. That is all fine and dandy but it allows the use of custom race covers to fit a 3.0" or 3.2" charger to run 2.6. Not a good deal in my book. Our rule states that the charger is to be 2.6 measured with a 2.65" plug. We also state that the inducer of the comp wheel must be in the 2.6" bore( means that the compressor wheel must be 66mm at the inducer tips). This is a far better way to limit the power of this class and make it alittle more obvious to the crowd the difference between the 2.6 and the 2.8/3.0 class. We can argue about this all day long but it is the truth. It is between 100-200hp difference no matter how you look at it. Look at schied's this year, point in case, we don't want that in the ITPA. What are your thoughts on this Gene? We would really like to find a way to unite the entire diesel pulling community as we know you want to do the same.

Isn't that rule just going to make everyone go buy a clipped wheel 2.6 charger? Whats the big differance between that and a custom cover? If you want to limit the class put a exducer rule in place.

or a way to get the same result and easier to tech is put an outside dimension limit on the compressor cover. Make it a limit that will take away most med. frame and all large frame chargers. That will limit the exd. of the comp. wheel and is easy to tech with U-shaped tool that is *insert dimension here* between the prongs. So you plug it, measure the outside and done.

Now the big/debatable question is how big should that outside comp. housing limit be? That I don't know about.

well I for one would appreciate a few minor rule changes so I can come over and play....my turbo wont be in my stock location, but it will be a 2.6 charger just like last year..

This rule was almost put into place last year and I think it would have worked fine! But I guess a few just didnt like it and made them get rid of it.........

I thought that's what the rule was this year. It was on there website all year long...

Turbocharger: The vehicle is limited to a 9-1/2" (maximum compressor diameter) single charger with 2.6" maximum inducer no bushings will be allowed”. Charger is a Single 2.60"(66mm) measured at the smallest diameter of the compressor wheel (will be measure with a go-no go gauge) and the housing must be smaller than 2.65"(measured with 2.65"plug) from the opening to the wheel(a minimum of 3/4" of inducer bore before the comp. wheel), no tapering of the inducer bore or plugs allowed. 1/4" Map groove maximum allowed and no other ways of allowing air to the wheel other than inducer bore and map groove are allowed. Turbo must remain in the factory location as manufactured by the OEM. The turbo may be raised or lowered to accommodate aftermarket pedestals. Must fit stock hood.

You guys are wasting your key strokes. leave it alone as it is now. it has been competitive everywhere ive been this year, with NADM, BOB, NKTPA, and Ohio. all these rules and this and that makes everyone buy new chargers every year. I was hoping to use the same one i had this year for next year, and it doesnt look promising. We go through the same thing each winter.

Makes sense to me!! :Cheer:

........the only reason RPM limits are in place it to help out the D-Max trucks.....

I thought the point of the 2.6 class was to help the Cummins from factory turbos, and to give the 2.8 chickens a place to hide?

The last time I checked an 05 common rail dodge with a single cp-3 won ITPA points last year so the 2.6 class didnt help out the d-max guys but beings how I work for Brent I got to like the dodge to win the 2.6 class
