Let's beat this horse.. 2nd Gen Steering.

i've been keeping tabs on the thread on cf. from what has been reported some hit and some do not. the first kit i installed was on an 01 dually and the kit did not hit.

mine was a direct bolt in. i run 17" rims so i cant answer the rubbing part. im sure it is all with back spacing of the rim. mine has tons of clearance. but a few trucks did have 16.5" rims on them i have seen.

The 00-01 trucks dont have the issues. It's the 94-99 trucks that supposedly have different knuckles.

I think he got it from Thuren fab...
Thuren Fabrication- Crossover steering kits
It's pricey. 4th gen steering was only $270 to my door.

On edit ^^^^^ that is where I got my kit from. I will see how well it works in a few weeks. I'm still waiting on a few more parts to arrive.

i have this kit and the gear box brace on my '01 with no issues. its been on there for about 7 yrs i believe.

also you dont need 44s to justify hydro assist. if everything is new and you still hate it...hydro is the only trick you have left in the book.

Tell them to put a good pic up of a new one and im sold. But if it looks anything like that one ill pass and make my own.

Whats the weight savings over a normal brace that runs frame rail to rail? And what do they mean when they say other braces negatively effect the box? That doesn't make sense to me.

rtfm.. or

it secures the sector shaft without tying the two frame rails together, so the flex in your frame does not apply leverage to the sector shaft. It also protects the expensive steering box and lines with a skid plate.

as for weight im sure there is no weight advantage.
danny is good people. and tests his stuff. thats is his truck in most of the pic on the site.

Oh, I thought they all came with the same bearing as mine. Mine allows it to twist some, but no side to side motion.

The skid plate is nice, but ones like mine also have so much material surrounding it, that it'd take a hell of a rock to mess it up any.

I'll give it one thing, it sure looks a helluva lot easier to install/remove than normal ones, and work around.

Mine gets here sometime this week. Ill turow up some pics then. Just not going on the truck till late sept....

Danny is a great guy to do business with. He his building me a set of .75" longer front control arms. His price on them is great compared to some of the other products on the market. The only arms in a relatively close price point are Top Gun Cusomz. The comparison photo of the bushings and sleeves sold me on his product.

I run a hydro assist on my truck also. I am pretty sure the 01-02 knuckles are different than the 98.5-99 just not sure on 00? The biggest difference for me was the 98/99HD T style steering. Direct bolt up except the drag link end which has to be 01 but fits the T style. Or you could go with TRE/heim adapters and build your own steering with heims. Like dons but you wouldnt have to drill out your knuckles incase you ever had to switch it up. Don should offer his this way IMO.

Gostman do you know where you can get those adapters for an 02? I would love to have them and not have to drill out knuckles or pitman arm! I can have a local shop or Danny make me some steering down the road. I love the Thuren set up but hate the idea of drilling out the knuckle.
