The factory 08.5 steering kit has non greaseable TRE's though correct? Also, Ive been hearing mixed stories, on the 00-02 trucks will the factory aluminum 16s clear the 4th gen steering? I know it has been mentioned but does anyone run those wheels with that steering in the 00-02 trucks and not have any clearance issues? Any ways of making them fit if they did rub some?
This is the first thread where I've read about 08.5 steering fitting my truck... I have never even hear of it... Pretty cool but what does it look like? Does anyone have pictures?
Correct, they do not have grease zerks. On the rims, before I purchased the parts I borrowed the outer link end and went looking to make sure it would fit and clear the rim, looks like it will on my truck. I should know tomorrow, got under it today to do the swap only to find the pitman arm was loose on the steering box shaft. :bang More parts!!
This kit works on 2nd gens?
Got the kit on today, even with the toe being out pretty bad, it still drives MUCH better.
I ran into one issue with rim clearance, the ball end cleared just fine, the stud end was rubbing the rim. Grinder and a cut off wheel eliminated that problem.
I used to have about an 1/8th of turn radius play on both sides, but now I can hardly drive straight because my hands are used to over correcting for the sway..
Maybe moog... By those are 61 bucks per side. Master pro are 21 per side at oreilly
08.5 rim clearance issues. This is with the factory alloy wheels. You can see where the top of the stud is hitting the rim, barely!
A few seconds with a cut off wheel took care of that issue.
